They are dried golden berries or Inca berries from Peru. They are related to the tomato (nightshade family), the flavor is very powerful, but i like it. They have lots of health benefits. These are right up there with the goji berries as my favorites.

I like to eat these with walnuts to sort of, help them go down easier lol. I mean, walnuts are super healthy and eating them daily is probably the single best thing I've ever done for my health beyond walking my dog three times per day, but it's sort of like choking down chunks of candle wax. Well, berries are tough because they're so high in sugar, eating them can easily kick you out of keto if that's something you're going for, or they're simply too high in carbs if you're just generally being carb concious. These little guys are more like sweet and sour tomatoes than any berries you're familiar with-they are lower in sugar and higher in fiber than any other berry I can find. Goji berries are a close second, and I eat those too. But goldenberries are unique in other ways too: They contain compounds called "withanolides" which are the main beneficial component of ashwaghanda root, and which are being studied for their anti-cancer effect, among other things. They are also an amazingly rich source of mixed carotenoids, just like tomatoes, with a single serving containing up to 40% of your vitamin A needs per day. Oh and they also contain a decent dose of vitamin C. Sounds great right? Well, the flavor is unique to say the least-the closest thing they taste like is Sweet Tart candies, so they really go well with walnuts because their strong flavor makes it much easier to get them down. I actually like them so much I purchased seeds and currently have about 30 goldenberry plants about to go in my garden. Give them a try and maybe you'll be motivated to grow some next year!

So, these are worth having on hand, if for no other reason than they are very tart and powerfully flavored. The 'golden berry' as we are calling these are a bit overbearing for eating out of hand except in batches of one or two at a time. What is great about this fruit, however, is that they can be diced and added to all sorts of things where you want a very strong, sweet-tart flavor to contract something too sweet. I add them to pasta sauce, for example, when I cannot get any decent tomatoes from the garden. I chop one up and add it to cereal or oatmeal when I get bored with cranberries. The tiniest little bit added to a salad adds massive interest when things get boring. Cool fruit.

These are so excellent! The best! Fresh and plump. Quality is great. The best I have ever had. Order these.. worth every every penny you won't great it if you enjoy dried golden berries.

These are not quite as tart as fresh ground cherries but are a nice change from your standard dried cranberry and frankly I find them better for snacking than just about any other dried fruit. I will absolutely re-purchase.

I have regularly eaten goldenberries for years. I know EXACTLY what they should taste like. I tried this brand once and was impressed that the berries were fresh and flavorful, so I ordered again. These are horrible. Taste is very strange. I am concerned a chemical is on them. they completely lack the tart flavor that good golden berries have and they are very dried out. $25 wasted. I will stick with terrasoul which has delivered a good product consistently for years.
