Good for very basic introduction
It's good for beginners or if you use it to record things (but a notebook is easier and cheaper). It has some good information in it, but I guess I expected more information. I was hoping for something a little more authoritative - many crops are not discussed and some important concepts have little ink dedicated to their discussion. I suppose I was hoping for a planting schedule or chart, and maybe a bit more scientific background information, and at least some more application notes. I suppose I will put my own, more informative, charts and references together. Personally, I do not really plan to use the notes sections which are a larger proportion of the pages than I realized - I have a notebook for recording things and did not need that here. I feel like it will be the gardening book I read or reference the least, but otherwise, it is nicely assembled, has nice aesthetics; if you want a very light quick start into gardening it's pretty good actually, but expect to graduate from it quickly if you continue.

Best Book for Beginners
Love this book! Five stars. Two thumbs up. All the good things. Recommend to EVERYONE!! I finished my second year of gardening and I wish I’d had this book two years ago! It covers a little bit of everything without going so in depth it's overwhelming, and without glazing over it leaving you frustrated and more confused. The charts make it automatically worth the buy. It has companion planting, pH and water needs for each plant, frost dates, and tons of others. It has lots of pages for you to write in the book for notes (which I won’t do because that’s sacrilege, but they are good ideas for pages in my garden binder). Each veggie has about three pages dedicated to it. Planting, Care, Pests/Diseases, Harvest/Storage are covered. Plus recommended varieties, general info and tips (like rosemary will deter Mexican bean beetles). It covers fertilizing, troubleshooting and so many helpful things, specific to a certain veggie. It also has amusing quotes at the start of every chapter. I really can’t say enough wonderful things about it. This is my absolute favorite gardening book and I think it should be on everyone’s shelf. Definitely the perfect Christmas gift for the gardener in the family!

The BIBLE for new/experienced gardener's alike!
This book is well thought out and laid out. Sections are broken down perfectly, from start to finish, like starting with your growing season and soil all the way to keeping critters out and pests/disease at bay. There are about journal sections to go with each section of the book for your own notes, to help you learn from the previous year or keep records of your soils pH, etc. I have attached pictures of the lay out of the books table of contents/ sections/journals/index. If you cannot find what you are looking for in the table of contents(which is laid out/broken down in detail) then you can go to the back and look it up in the index. Each plant has a section with subsections on types/planting/growing in pots(certain plants)/care/disease&pests/harvest&storage and recommended varieties as well as some time bits of good to know facts. It is the most broadly spanning book I have found to date, which has been about 3 years of trial and error on which books are worth the paper they are printed on. FARMER'S ALMANAC HAS DONE IT AGAIN!! At this price point, under $13, you would be missing out on one of the best books out there,, no matter if you are in your research stage or a seasoned gardener looking to expand your skills or just brush up. If this was helpful, pls give it a like! It let's me know the time it takes to leave these reviews is well spent. Edit: sorry for the upside down pictures, I'm not sure what my camera did there.

I wanted a book that covered typical, usual vegetables that I grow. This book really covered a large range of topics that I found helpful and useful. If you're a gardener at any level, I highly recommend this book. Would also make a fantastic gift for the gardener in your life.
