Very interesting book. Good pictorial illustrations. Book is new.

This book is great for a history of the crests of Japan. It shows you exactly how crests came about and explains with grouping what the symbolism means behind them. I just wish that their were more crests shown in this book.

Interesting information.

This book illustrates major categories of crests and briefly discusses the symbolic meanings behind them. That's ok as far as it goes but this is in no way a comprehensive resource. Only a small fraction of existing crests are illustrated, and there is no attempt to link crests, beyond just a few, to specific families or clans, so this book cannot help identify what families go with what crests. This is a peculiar and significant shortcoming for a book titled "Family Crests of Japan"!

Book about nothing, it's best price 3$+free shipping.If you'll search information about kamon for 30 minutes in internet you'll find twice more than shown in this book.Maybe it'll be useful for kids...

A useful book- although concentrates more on the design rather than the history and identification of Japanese families etc, making it a little limited for the student of Japanese history.

Ich war auf der Suche nach einem bestimmten japanischen Wappen, welches ich im Internet nicht finden konnte und somit auch keinem japanischen Clan zuordnen konnte.Kurz gesagt: Das kann ich jetzt auch noch nicht.Das Buch bietet aber einen interessanten Überblick über die Entstehung verschiedener Wappen und gibt Einblick in die japanische Heraldik die für Euopäer gänzlich fremdartig ist.Etwas mehr spezifisches Bildmaterial und eine Aufstellung der Fürstenhäuser und ihrer Wappen (nicht nur der großen) wäre für mich von Interesse gewesen.
