Great tool
Bought on a whim. I wanted my cookies to stand out this year, and my gingerbread scottie dogs look amazing. I did dust them with powdered sugar to make the design pop. The cookies looked so nice I tried it on my lattice work on my Christmas Beef Wellington. Next I can try it on a pie. Very worth the cheap price. Hand wash only, obviously. I am pretty sure the folks who are having trouble getting the design to show up are not rolling out the dough thin enough. Use a regular rolling pin first, and I just used the cut-out rolling pin for the last roll. Worked perfect, even better than anticipated, the first time. User error shouldn't be blamed on the tool. The tool is perfectly fine.

The pattern is plenty deep enough
to emboss cookie dough... there were some reviews that said that wasn't true or that the dark color at the base of the pattern was something bad or that there were splinters. None of that was true of the product I received. It can be a bit time consuming to clean if you get dough down in those crevices but you'd expect that going in. I found dusting it well with flour / shaking out the excess made a better pattern for me and the roller released nicely. I had a great time with it, gorgeous cookies.

Special Treats That Stand Out!
Beautiful and intricate design, this rolling pin is fairly easy to use. You’ll need to press firmly to ensure the pattern survives baking. My dough wasn't sticky so I didn’t need to flour the pin. My only con is that it's smaller than the standard size, you can only imprint a small area at a time, making it a bit time consuming. Cleaning wasn’t easy either; I used a new toothbrush to reach all the grooves. Still, it’s a great tool for creating special cookies beyond the usual cookie cutter cutouts.

Makes pretty cookies
This rolling pin makes a deep impression so the resulting cookies are really pretty. The patterns are not tiny, so it is fairly easy to clean. It helps to lightly flour the dough after the last roll with the regular rolling pin before using the decorative roller.

Great product
I bought this to make Christmas cookies and look forward to using it. I'm also going to buy one or more for use in my art. Will make great patterns for background art.

Easy to use but a little hard to clean
Used this for Christmas cookies this year and loved the pattern it makes, unfortunately it doesn’t imprint a deep pattern on your cookie just a light imprint no matter how hard you press. At least we couldn’t get it too, and we didn’t want to smash the cookie dough down too far either. But what we did get was very pretty. Just not what I was expecting. It’s a very light cookie roller, there’s no heft to it which I suppose doesn’t help. And it was not too easy to clean all the cookie dough got stuck in the little places, thankfully I had a little bristle brush that could help get it clean. I will be using it again next year but would I purchase it again, probably not.

This is the perfect gift for anyone who loves to bake cookies and pies , adding fancy finishes without a lot of effort. So pretty when rolled over dough! Solidly made.

Magical
I hesitated on this purchase - seemed iffy that it would work. But it is a delight... easy and reliable. I dusted it carefully with flour before using and it impressed and released without a problem. I need to be a little careful not to roll too thin while I'm making the imprint - hold back a bit or begin with thicker dough. Whichever, the results are charming. UPDATE: forgot to make the point that the imprint stays sharp if you remember to put the stamped cookies (on the cookie sheet) into the freezer for about 30 min. before you bake them in the oven. A great result.
