Too short
This knife passes muster especially for the price point. It is made from standard high quality stainless steel and no, there is not any difference at all in types of steel used for tools like this. Different brands with EXTREMELY minor differences in composition but NO demonstrable differences in quality. The edge is razor sharp as 100% of knives are in this age of mass industrial sharpening using lasers. The handle and mechanism are of high quality and the standard design of a spring assisted knife with a flip switch. The point is a proven design, the tanto, clip point. This is a good choice for a tactical knife. Easy to sharpen with a point that is difficult to blunt and physics that would probably pierce a car door and designed to do snap cuts when fighting. It is however, not of a reasonable length. Add an inch to blade and handle and it would be good enough. The blade is 3.5 inches and the total length is 8.25 inches. Although not long enough, the flip switch, once extended provides a finger break that prevents your hand from slipping down on the edge while using the knife. Sounds nit picking but the $50 version of this knife is missing this and hence is unacceptable for any use. This is a good "throw away" knife worth the $20ish dollars it costs.

Great buy
I got a couple similar ones to compare. I actually have a good collection, I like to buy cheap knives and test them out. This one is awesome! And it was cheaper than the others but definitely not in quality. Opens and closes almost too smooth, took some getting used to. It locks perfectly and I love the edge, has a great blade out of the box. I use a heavier knife for work but ended up using this one and have kept using it and it is standing up to some heavy abuse. That's why I'm leaving the review, because I looked up the knife to buy a second one since I like it so much and figured I would leave a review while I was here. Nothing negative to mention other than maybe it opens and closes almost too smooth. If you're not used to it, you could probably catch yourself and it is very sharp, blade and point.

Great for the price.
I'm a collector with many expensive production and custom knives, and many inexpensive ones too. It's rare to find a knife this solidly built for this price. The blade is a very thick billet, and the overall build is very solid. The only weak spot on mine was a little bit less lock up in the frame lock than I'd like. It works, but the apposition is a bit low. It could easily be fixed with a small grind. For the price, I'd say this is a 5 star product.

This knife is just pure awesome. I’ve been carrying knives for over 20 years and this is one of the most reliable and sturdy folders I’ve ever owned. It has awesome features and performs like a much more expensive knife. The blade is very thick and sharpens quickly. I no longer carry my 70 dollar SOG bc of this gem. If you like knives and don’t own this then do yourself a favor and pick one up today!

feels good in your hand
Up date. 9 days later my knife would seem to lock after i opened it. But if you bump the knife on the back of the blade it would close on my fingers. be careful if you have this knife. I just now returned the knife. I bought a second one 3 days after i purchased my first knife. I will test to see if this one also has a defective locking mechanism. I wanted to add that i have been playing with the second knife and so far it locks securely. I enjoy this knife and i read that some one wrote it wont cut paper. not sure why he's was having trouble cutting? my knife cuts well.

Better than expected.
This is a great knife...not just for the price. The fact it's only 20 bux is amazing. Best action of any flipper I own, and I own some that cost 10 times what this did. Is the blade D2? I don't know. But, it's ground and finished flawlessly. I also expected some sharp spots on the handle. Nope. Every surface is silky smooth. Im going to buy a bunch of these for gifts before the price goes up.

Crispy fast
First ball bearing knife. Dangerously easy snap at the slightest pressure. I noticed this type of system requires that you keep your fingers out of the blade path while opening. This limits the grip on the scales to fingertips until fully open making the need for maximum grip essential. This knife has that type of grip.Another detail, I don’t know if the bearings are sealed well enough to take a plunge into dirty water.

Another inexpensive Gem!
LEFTY guys beware! See the end of the write up. First off, let me explain. I am NOT a big Tanto fan anymore. I used to be since I started carrying a tactical folder, and my first was the Emerson CQC7, the worlds first and best tac folder in history! BUT I grew out of my Tanto phase when I got inot a couple REAL Japanese Tantos and learned the true blade shape of a traditional Tanto. However, I decided to try a couple more, and got another one from Amazon, and this one. I love this knife! It is ALMOST a traditional Tanto having a slightly curved cutting edge, bit a little too much angle on the grind from the point to the cutting edge. Thats said, it looks cool, is a fantastic perpetrator, and is a very well made and good looking knife. The grinds, shape, smooth opening and all are very good on this knife. Blade is indeed D2, and after a professional sharpening by me, (i have a small sharpening service I do on the side) the thing is shaving sharp and excellent at everyday carry chores. If you like Tantos, and even if you don't, buy one of these! A little warning for left handed operators, this is NOT a good knife for us unless you are willing to train opening it! The frame lock is a RIGHT handed design! You really must use a different technique to open it using your left thumb on the blade pivot or you are locking it closed while trying to open it! other than that excellent!
