LGElectronics ADQ73214402 Refrigerator Air Cleaner Filter Assembly

We bought the Kenmore Prestige Elite exactly one year ago. When the air filter light went on I checked the reviews and ordered the LG. It looks the same and fits, but I can't get the message to go off on the panel. The old filter looked clean and may not have needed replacing. We will take care of the message when we have Sears out to service the refrigerator, again, as we are having the same problems mentioned in some of these reviews. First, the freezer was 'over-freezing' on the top shelf, even though the temperature was set at +1. The ice maker was also punking out at random intervals. Both were fixed, but it is only one month later and the ice maker is not functioning properly. I appreciated the other reviews on the filter, that brought up ice maker issues, so we know this is a weakness in the design or manufacturing.

Received the item quickly and efficiently. It was the correct model. Packaging was a little odd but got the job done (it was shipped inside mailer envelope with no invoice and no instructions).Dinged one star because of price.My only complaint is about the cost, especially since this filter is *supposed* to be replaced every 6 months. The price ($14.62) seems excessive, but this was the going rate no matter where I tried to get it from, including LG (I've noticed the price has gone up a little since I purchased). It is just a little plastic frame with some thin mesh and I presume some activated charcoal inside. Why does it cost SO much?!! Since we never have any dairy, meat or fish in our fridge, it probably does not need to be replaced so often.

I decided to order the OEM part for this filter, which works perfectly. Given what the material is made from, not sure what the filter does that requires it to be changed so frequently. More research to be done before ordering any more air filters.BUT I do like my LG Refrigerator. We opted out of the GE refrigerator with the builders appliance package. After talking to other neighbors that did get the GE french door, with the lower frieezer, like this LG, they have had a lot of problems with the ice makers and water dispenser. Although the LG ice maker chamber is very small, I do like the size of the ice cubes and decided that I need to empty the ice bin into the secondary tub in the bottom freezer section to give us more ice when we have company.

Easy to install

We have a Kenmore Elite refrigerator that takes this size/style air filter. The refrigerator light came on and said to change it. Some people say they don't need to change the filters, but usually when the indicator lights up, it's ready and it's beginning to not smell so fresh. Once it was changed, I could tell a difference in the freshness. It's not just a matter of the smell as you open the refrigerator, those smells combine in the fridge and can affect your food. So, we needed a filter. Last time we paid over $30. We checked online and Sears wants $25 each. This looks exactly the same, fits the same and works the same, for about 1/3 the cost. It's a no brainer, I'll take the LG filter.

If you want to keep your fridge sweet smelling without breaking the bank, then this is the OEM product for you! There's not much to these filters and this one does a great job at the right price. Perfect replacement filter for our LG and it worked so well, my mother in law bought one for her refrigerator (that is exactly like mine). Have no fear, pop this baby in and go about your business .... until the filter reminder light comes on again in 6 months!
