Excellent children's book
Excellent children's book, and as an adult, I liked it, too! A really excellent story and beautiful illustrations. I saw this book in my local library, and was captivated by it....so much so that I had to have it. I am a nurse, and was very interested in the amazing woman at the heart of this story. After researching various adult books on the same subject (which all seemed good, but a little too dry for my taste), I decided to purchase this book for me AND my grandchildren! I am so pleased I did....I absolutely love it. I would recommend this book to anyone!

A great, engagingly illustrated story of an American hero whose name should be introduced to students early and often. My students loved hearing this story and had lots of questions about what it means to be a spy afterward. I used this during a unit on Risk-Takers, and it was a great way to support the idea that risk-takers aren't always great leaders or receive credit during their lifetimes.

There she fought and worked just like a 'man' but at times even tougher
This was a very well written book on the life of Sarah Edmonds who lived her life as a man so she could be 'free' of an arranged marriage and life in Canada. She put on pants and cut her hair and came to the states then later joined the Civil War. There she fought and worked just like a 'man' but at times even tougher. (Including helping treat injured solders when it often took 'men' with strong stomachs to do that job.) She was commended by her work and was put in a position as a spy. She dressed as a 'free' slave and was able to write down things to help her side. She did much to help her unit fight in the war. Ms Moss did a very well job at this 'children's' book and because I have read it now would like to find more books on Ms Edmonds and her life.

Had to rebuy in paperback version
DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE VERSION. I bought the kindle version and the print was small, words were toppled over each other, and the print was illegible. I was very upset over this. I tried contacting customer support but have not heard back yet.I needed this book for school paper this week. I had to re-buy it this time I bought it as paperback and it is much better. I am just upset that I had to purchase the book twice because the first time when I ordered the Kindle it was useless.
