Failed on first recharge. However, the first charge lasted years. Exceptional design work.
I bought two and will buy a replacement for the one that just died. Obviously a battery malfunction, but it did last for a long time. Excellent cost/feature unit. Love the super fast response. I have tested it against lab thermometers and it's dead on and reads in less than a second and is extremely localized in measurement, and super low mass so it does not corrupt reading. Buy one. Hope it lasts a long time.I buy other InkBird stuff and like the outfit and their products. My review is mixed due to one failure, but this is a well designed, ergonomic, decent product.Update: I disassembled the device to see what was going on. It was a cold solder joint from the USB-C connector to the circuit board. Destroyed the case in the process, but a soldering iron would have fixed it. In the course of this, I was able to inspect the design. It's great work. High quality parts, extremely well assembled, with the minor exception of this particular connection. Very decent device. They really did not cut any corners. No idea how they can sell it for such a low price.

A great value
I had originally purchased the Inkbird instant digital thermometer Inkbird HET-F001 and recently I purchased their newer generation, the Inkbird IHT-1P.The Inkbird IHT-1P instant digital thermometer is a much better thermometer than the previous generation in so many ways. The response time is a great improvement and I noticed that it typically takes about 4 seconds to settle on a temperature. I live in an area thatās 1,214 feet above sea level. The boiling point for water at this elevation is 209.572 °F. Although I have not calibrated this thermometer yet, my test results were pretty good.Through a special menu, you can calibrate it anywhere from ±0.1 °F/°C increments up to ±5 °F/°C. This is an excellent feature for those that live in areas above with higher elevation. The thermometer is more ergonomic than the previous model, easier to handle and itās a bit smaller. One thing will stand out as soon as you open it is the new color thatās complemented by an excellent bright display. There is now a dedicated button to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius as opposed to the previous model that had a switch inside the battery compartment and like its predecessor, it has a 10 minute auto shut-off timer. As soon as you extend the probe the thermometer turns on with a nice bright display. As soon as you collapse the probe at 45 degree or less it will turn off which is really nice. I only wish that the probe movement was a bit smoother. The thermometer also comes with a temperature hold button. Press once and it will stop reading and will hold the last read temperature. Press it again and it will resume.I also want to mention that the probe sends a reading every half a second, not that it matters during grilling but I thought I would mention that. This thermometer has two magnets in the back, both are strong and well positioned to hold this thermometer against a metal object in any angle. The new thermometer is also IPx5 waterproof which means it will not get damaged when sprayed/soaked it with a water hose/rain.This thermometer has an internal rechargeable battery that you can charge using the included USB-C cable which is a good selling point in my opinion.Overall, this is an excellent instant thermometer for the money. With all its features and excellent price point I canāt think of a reason not to get one.

Fast, Accurate, Works Well
Temperature reading is fast and seems to be accurate. Takes about 5 seconds to get a reading within a degree, battery hasnāt run out yet so Iām not sure if this supports USB-C PD.

Super useful indoors or out:
I specialize in tech and BBQ reviews and first became a fan of Inkbird a a few years ago when they were not yet well known in the U.S. barbeque community. I have both an Inkbird Wifi and Bluetooth thermometer with probes and am also a huge fan of their $23 instant read IHT-1P. This new IHT-2XP model intrigued me because it has two unique functions I had never seen available in a single thermometer: 1) It works as a fast and accurate instant read thermometer. 2) It has two probes that can optionally be used to continually monitor rising meat temps while cooking. Itās an extraordinary value at $35 with two probes, or $30 with one. Read on to learn more:EASE OF USE / ACCURACY:Like other recent Inkbird designs, there is no need to buy expensive batteries again. The thermometer charges therough USB and a charge lasts through several cooks. Whether using the instant read built-tin probe, or the detachable ones, itās dead-on accurate. It matches my $100 Thermoworks for accuracy.READABILITY:The number readout is clean and readable. If you are cooking outside and it is dark, the backlight is a feature I will use often.CALIBRATION:A huge win for Inkbird. Companies including Thermoworks makes you send it in to the factory. This Inkbird let you self-calibrate at your option: itās fun and easy using boiling water, and ice water. However, itās accurate right out of the box.WITH SEVERAL INKBIRD MODELS IS THIS THE BEST MODEL FOR ME?If youāve never had an instant read thermometer, this model is a no brainer since it costs the same as a quality model yet does much more. If you have never worked with probes before, this model is non-intimidating and perfect in the kitchen. No Bluetooth or WIFI set up need. Just plug in one or two probes, stick in the meat and monitor temps. You can optionally set alarms to beep at a predetermined finish temp.IS IT ALSO FOR EXPERIENCED BARBEQUE USERS?As someone with seemingly every type of remote, for me the answer is a clear Yes. When I use probes, I donāt always want to be setting up and pairing Bluetooth and Wifi. If Iām planning to be near the grill often during a cookāand thatās most of the timeāthis IHT-2XP is a perfect no hassle solution for perfectly cooked āQ.āCONCLUSIONāāWinner-Winner. Chicken Dinner!ā For sure, we have another Inkbird winner here. Great value and unique versatility. For any cook, and even serious barbeque folks who compete, I trust its accuracy and truly rapid fire speed. My recommendation is to get both probes. Even if just cooking in the oven, try using one to monitor the actual oven temp. You may surprised that even high end ovens actual temps can be quite a bit off from their dial settings.Thank you for slogging through this long review. Hope it has been of some small help.HAPPY COOKING TO YOU AND YOURS!
