Very comprehensive guide to all of the D3200 features
This book is an excellent book for any Nikon D3200 owner. It provides a detailed and very comprehensive look at all of the features of the D3200. I would describe this book as a camera manual on speed. This is a book I know I'll refer to again and again as my knowledge of and experience with the D3200's features develops. It is a great book for anyone who wants to go beyond the D3200s instruction manual and understand how the camera functions. However, if you're new to digital photography, or looking to learn how to take better photographs, this book may not be the right choice. While it is, of course, extemely important to understand how your camera functions and how to operate each feature, to take good photographs you also have to understand how those features and functions can be used photographically. For that insight, I found the book Nikon D3200: From Snapshots To Great Shots (by Rob Sylvan) to be more useful and instructive.I did find that the two books made good companions for each other, however, and would recommend both for D3200 owners who want to really understand both how their camera works and how to take great photographs with it.

The perfect learning tool
A well written guide that covers all topics of this camera. It was very useful to me as a beginner to not only the D3200 itself but also photography in general. A truly priceless guide for all level photographers, I imagine. I plan on purchasing his field guide at some point to add to my camera bag.

A Must Have if You Own a Nikon D3200
Holy $hit is this a book! Well written for beginners, easy to read language without all the camera "speak". Just bought my Nikon D3200 and can fairly say I couldn't do without this comprehensive learners guide. So much to learn, so little time. Not only does the book cover the mechanics of the D3200, he goes into actually how to "take pictures" which is camera agnostic. I've only through 3 chapters now, but anxious to read more. It was worth the price, especially if you are new to DSLR and or the Nikon D3200 unit. BTW, he writes a book for damn near every Nikon on the market. Buy this.

David Busch's Nikon D3200 Guide to Digital SLR Photography
The book covers most of what is needed to run the D3200 in a proficient manner. I happened to want to use the D3200 for lots of Infrared shots while using the ML-L3 IR remote control unit, and the book failed me. Yes, there is nothing useful about Infrared photograph techniques with this camera nor how to use the (unrelated) Infrared remote controls built into the camera. It is completely lacking in describing how to set up the camera for remote IR controllers in order to maintain a hands-off approach with a remote controller (like the ML-L3 IR remote), which button to push, how to set it, etc., all of which I discovered in the Nikon PDF Quick guide for using this camera. David Busch's book only mentions that there are two IR receivers on the camera (front and back)- wow! Why not instead tell how to best use them instead of just mentioning that this is a great addition? The control button for handling the IR remotes is barely mentioned in Ch. 2 and it is only shown in a picture (Figure 1. on pg 12). Again, these topics could have been mentioned in the 'Making Light Work For You' chapter (11), but not one word about actually taking Infrared pictures! Obviously I think this is a huge oversight for those of us who haven't used a DSLR before and come from another professional photographic environment dealing with invisible parts of the spectrum. In summary, a few notes on Infrared photography techniques along with the prerequisite IR remote control (to eliminate hand-held vibrations) would have really rounded out the book and made it particularly outstanding. My experience was in 4"x5" Graphic (view) camera use and a simple Kodak zoom digital, and photomicroscopy. The D3200 was essentially a completely new experience, despite my past professional work in web applications development and related graphics. As soon as I got this book, I was perplexed - how to use the remote controller and how to use the camera with a deep IR filter...There are many positive hints in the book and places to obtain super handy add-ons like the viewer protection glass, carrying bag, straps, etc. The web gave me most of the clues about filters for IR as well as where to obtain (thru Amazon) the IR photography kit.If you are new to the Nikon DSLR, do not toss out their manuals, as they are a great supplement to this book.

New to DSLR Photography
I ordered this book because I was strongly considering buying the Nikon D3200 and wanted to get as much information on the actual operation and capability of the camera in addition to the internet general reviews. I was not dissapointed, the book explains in great detail how to operate the camera, notes it good points and weak points, explaind how to get the most out of it. There are sections on the basic camera operation, more advanced features, suggestions, such as to carry a back-up battery, and a section on post processing software and available lenses. The illustrations and sample pictures are excellent. After reading the book I had enough confidence to order the camera.

this is a really great guide! I have taught myself many things through ...
Clearly this author is the #1 camera guide writer for a reason, this is a really great guide! I have taught myself many things through the years; sewing, knitting, crochet, cooking, embroidery, and lots of others. This, I think, is the best instructional book for a real beginner I have ever read. The pictures are supersize compared to most books of any kind, especially guide books, and the language is as basic as it can possible be (without being insulting). There is a lot to learn about this camera, but reading this book makes me feel like, no matter how many times I have to reread a section, I will eventually, get there.
