Good story overall
This is my second attempt to connect with this author but I guess her idea of a romance hero and mine just differ so I'll move on after this.My issue with this story is the entire prologue paints a picture of a guy who is done with one night stands and desires a more serious, substantial relationship. He zeroes in on h at a party and can't take his eyes off of her. He asks people about her, learns her name, looks for an opportunity to speak to her all evening. Both women involved with H in this story are present during the prologue party yet he says there "is only one woman who catches my eyes", "It's about spending time with someone who challenges my mind", "she's an innocent...sexy and smart-speaks right to my heart", "I want to spend time with someone who interests me", "The only thing I'm interested in is the pretty woman sitting alone outside." On and on he goes. So far so good, but not for long apparently.H's encounter with h at the party is interrupted by a woman who pulls him back inside to the party. It's alluded to that this woman is the "hot model", who just a few minutes before, he was not interested in at all and supposedly didn't even know her name. He then removes himself from an almost kiss with the h, the only woman he's interested in and has been waiting all night to get the opportunity to speak to, to go back inside with a woman he doesn't even know? The other woman mentions H's friend Keith wants him to come back inside, yet again, just a few minutes prior, H wasn't interested in what Keith thought about him pursuing h. The inconsistencies make my brain hurt. Not only does the H NEVER express interest in anyone except the h, he specifically expresses DISINTEREST in the the "hot model" who he later ends up with? Now we're supposed to believe, after ALL the above, that he walks away from h and ends up with the "hot model" that he refused to look at or talk to during prologue?? Not only as one of his normal "hookups" that he's supposedly done with, but a relationship??H is also, apparently, the type guy who has no issues with his now "hot model" girlfriend "partying hard" around drug and booze because he "trusted her" and she was "fun"? I'm not sure how "fun" she was when he admittedly had to be dragged to the parties she attended and sat with his phone while she was partying??It's just so confusing to me and doesn't make any sense. Which guy is the H character? The one who wants to pursue something deeper with the sweet, sexy h, or one who enters "fun" relationships with models who party hard around drugs and booze? It's so inconsistent I can't figure it out, especially when this is supposed to be the setup for the premise of the whole book. His "situation " which is revealed slowly throughout the book could have come from a different source, possibly a relationship that preceded H's instant connection with h and his desire to find a more meaningful relationship and it wouldn't have made H appear to be such a jerk.I think the h deserved to know at the very beginning, either by seeing them together or H being honest up front, that after their supposed instant connection in prologue, that he walked out with hot model instead and then entered a relationship with her. It was heartbreaking to me and maybe it would've been to h also? I think she thought he felt the same and it may have affected her willingness to enter a relationship with him had she known the other woman was his first choice. To me this indicated their connection was more on her part than his and she deserved to know that. However, this wasn't revealed to her until much later in the story. IMO, he should have had to work harder to overcome that. H should have also been upfront that his intentions were to be friends, not to date, once he approached her again later in the book.I did give this one a higher rating than the last one because the rest of the story was interesting and kept me engaged but I just couldn't get over how it started.

The blurb hooked me & I certainly wasn't disappointed by this SPECTACULAR BOOK!!!
I consider myself lucky to be able to read books regularly. Especially now that I can find so many amazing authors that have come to be available since more and more Indie Author's are able to get their voices and stories told. I am an avid reader as I have said many of times on my blog, and as the mom of three small children, I horde the free time I get...When I say that I choose to stay up all night long to read a book because I couldn't possibly have put it down, I mean it. As exhausted as I was all day today, I still don't regret making the decision I made to read through the night to finish Everest by S.L. Scott.I wanted to read the book because it was S.L. Scott and I love her work since finding her...I was hooked on Everest from the blurb really. I mean, she wrote the first line of the blurb like she picked my heartthrob right from my mind: "Six foot three. Dynamic green eyes. Utterly irresistible." So it went without saying that I was intrigued. but something in the blurb just told not to miss out on this book right now! And I didn't. I loved a whole host of stuff about the book, and yes, Ethan is definitely one of them. But first I'd like to write about our heroine in this book. Singer Davis. I was CAPTIVATED by her. I can usually find something to appreciate in heroines, but this girl was like truly radiant and I can only see her in my mind, you know?!?! She was also "more beautiful on the inside" then the outside. S.L. Scott really wrote a beautiful woman that just got better and better as the story progressed because she continued to prove to me just how deeply she herself had imagined this heroine.Ethan Everest, as previously mentioned was suitably hot. I liked the duel sides we saw for Ethan's character. At their first encounter, he is a man that's full of charisma and the life of party personality. At their second encounter, Ethen is vastly different. This is almost superficial for me to say, but Ethan's looks are still well above the rest of the men in the room, but instead of being full of life, he's a far more stoic man. I think it helped me to understand just how much the drama of the year between the first chance and second chance between Singer & Ethan actually affected who Ethan had become. It makes his vulnerability more apparent and I felt he was less flakey. I didn't at first, at first I was thinking he was a flake...a player. But S.L. Scott made me see as the story unfolded a very broken man...AND that my friend, was genius! I mean, Ethan Everest had everything he could ever want in terms of what money could buy him, but it has also cost him everything! In addition to loving Singer and Ethan, I feel like the secondary characters, Melanie, Aaron, Lars and Frank were all exceptionally well done. I thought I was going to want to bean Chip at one point, but S.L. Scott QUICKLY fixed my notion that he was a d-bag. Even if the rest of the book was a flop (which it wasn't) the strength of her characters made the book worth wild. Now lets talk about the rest of the book. The Cover?!?! SMOKING HOT! and honestly, the epitome of how I pictured Ethan. I mean, he was after all, all-man and this cover model just screams it from the loosened tie and open shirt, to the chest hair, and five o'clock shadow!! The story itself overall was just unbelievably good! It wasn't overly angsty-although I was completely heartbroken at one point. I will admit it was a little slow at first...what with the explanations of Ethan and Singer's first and second chances...and the missed opportunities in-between. Yet, I actually really appreciated the way she wove this tale for us as well. I mean, obviously it didn't stay slow or there is no way I could have possibly stayed awake all night long. Just like in sci-fy, great world building has a reason...and so did the pace S.L. Scott initiated this book...because it very quickly changes and becomes everything you may (or may not) feel like it wasn't. I believed there was a reason it wasn't balls to the wall and I was right. I love the way S.L. Scott writes. I mean, obviously I've reviewed books for her before, so I knew that I could expect a higher than normal level of quality with regard to spelling, grammar, syntax, etc. As I read, I loved the baseball analogies that S.L. Scott incorporated to the story. I also love her skill with writing the sexy times. I definitely think she stepped the attraction and chemistry up between Ethan and Singer. Then, there was these instances when the words just jumped right out at me..."That time I saw him with you at happy hour...Sparks didn't fly. They incinerated the sky.""As we roll out of the parking garage, the overhead lights reflect in her eyes, and I see a glint of the girl who first stole my heart. If it takes sacrificing a four-hundred-thousand-dollar car, so be it. That spark of life is worth more.""...The pleasure I thought I'd feel being in the power position isn't there. There is no satisfaction in losing your dreams and best friend through betrayal."These are told in no particular order and are not used to spoil the book for you. They just really resonated with me from the moment I read them and throughout the day since I finished the book...I reviewed this on behalf of my blog, but mostly because I just was dying to get my hands on more of S.L. Scott's work. I hope you honestly skipped this review and just bought the book altogether! Otherwise, I sincerely hope you buy it right now!!!

Oh, God! Seriously loved this book!! Full of heart and emotion.
Oh, God! Seriously loved this book!! Full of heart and emotion."She's shaped like a woman I want to meet."One night, Ethan Everest has the world at his feet. He's a confident young man who knows what he wants out of life, and where he's going. When he spies a beautiful girl at a party, they share an almost-kiss before he's pulled away. One year later, after seeing her here and there all over the city, he finally gives in to the tantalising desire and fascination for her that's never gone away. However, his life is complicated."It's not lost on me. Ethan Everest wants to sleep with me. It's also not overlooked that he likes our friendship."Singer Davis definitely noticed Ethan Everest on the first night they ever met. She hasn't been able to stop thinking about him, but what could a gorgeous man like him see in a girl like her? So, they hang out, as friends, in spite of the mixed messages Ethan keeps sending out."She makes me feel too much - vulnerable, bare, but important. I should push her away, but I can't."I just love this author's writing style. She always manages to make her stories feel dreamy. This was a beautiful but angsty, slow burn romance. I loved the sizzling chemistry between Ethan and Singer. I adored his protectiveness and thoughtfulness of her. The more he tried to keep her at a distance, the more powerless he became in the face of her beauty, her intelligence, and her goodness."I'm here. The quiet that steals your thoughts and causes you to shut down on me, I need you to fight it."I adored the growth of their relationship. The trust and emotion between them was gorgeous and almost tangible. The author always writes with great sensitivity, and there's usually a shocking surprise or two in the plot, making the whole thing a riveting read.Another fabulous offering from this talented author. Thoroughly recommend!!

Heart, Soul and Epic Love !!
OH holy WOW!! I have just finished this book and i am honestly lost for words, i’m a jumble of emotions. You know that feeling when you finish a book, and you are in a total zone and lost, words fail you and you don’t know if you want to cry or hug yourself because it was that damned good and don’t want it to end !!! This is one of those books. There is so much heart and soul in this couples story, it reaches the very deepest depths of you!Ethan Everest, trust me this is a name you will never forget once you read this book !!Ethan Everest and Singer Davis first met at a party, and they spent a short time together, both feeling the instant attraction and draw, just as they are about to share a kiss they are disturbed and Ethan is dragged away. Neither of them have ever forgot that moment.A lot of things have happened in Ethan’s life when he runs into Singer again. No matter how much he wishes that this time he could do things right, he can’t bring himself to push the baggage he’s now having to deal with upon her, yet he’s determined to have her in his life, even if right now that can only be as friends. Can he risk losing her if he tells her everything? Singer is confused, her feelings for Ethan haven’t changed and she knows being put into the “friend” bracket will destroy her when she wants so much more, but having Ethan in her life in any capacity is something she would prefer to having no Ethan at all.S.L. Scott has yet again given us characters that melt our insides to mush, softens your heart and breaks it. There are so many little curves in this book that emotionally your on edge with every page. You become so deeply involved and captivated, nothing else will exist. Ethan just blew me away, and i adored Singer, she’s a woman who loves with her whole heart and gives her everything. By the end of this book, i was emotionally drained and elated at the same time, smiling yet crying, happy yet sad, but also sure i had just read a love story that will stay with me forever !!!

So worth the climb!!!
Ahh what a fantastic story.... great dialogue, bit of mystery, genuine characters and relationships, with nothing unrealistic.I loved Singer and her relationship with Mel was fab. They had great banter very true between such good friends.Ethan is just gorgeous I loved his vulnerability but also his alpha side was great. not too over the top. Singer and Ethan also had real dialogue with some lovely humour and also some really heartfelt poignant moments. I liked the honesty of their relationship. The supporting characters were great. well rounded and developed.I could visualise everything very easily as the writing is so natural and flows brilliantly....All in all another hit from SL Scott..... could even be her best yet.Give it a go you won't be disappointed.PS tissues required 😉😢

Well done SL Scott
SL Scott has outdone herself, I loved the story of Ethan & Singer. Their chemistry is undeniable form the very start but somehow manages to get in the way for a while. The story is very well written and hot where it needs to be. I love that it’s not your typical ‘he’s got a ton of cash and buys her everything in sight’ story. He loves her sense of independence. The relationship between the supporting characters is very good too. I’d like to hear more from these 2 in he future.
