Beautifully presented
HWM have been my favourite marque for many many years - If I ever win the lottery an HWM will be my first purchase. I have several HWM books but Mr Taylors substantial book is the one I have been looking/waiting for it will certainly be regarded as the definitive work.

A masterwork!
Simon Taylor's book is simply a masterwork on HWM; beautifully written and lavishly illustrated with many never seen before images. If you're interested in this most fascinating period of Motorsport history, then I can whole heartedly recommend this book as something to treasure. From start to finish, it's a real treat that perfectly paints a picture of triumph and tragedy, great success, gruelling hard work and devastating personal loss; both on and off track. The two volume edition comprises a history of the HWM team in volume 1, with volume 2 dedicated to the individual cars, drivers and race tracks, packaged in a Green HWM badged slip case. That Simon owns the 'Stovebolt Special' HWM Chevrolet following a life long love affair only adds to the credibility of his authorship, but tellingly, this is no blinkered, rose tinted history, but one that's told factually and dispassionately, with warts and all shared where appropriate.I was fortunate to pick up a copy here on Amazon for just under £90 delivered, which represents stunning value for a book that I will always treasure.Absolutely essential reading for any enthusiast of post war sports cars.

Superb
I had some concerns before I bought this two volume publication. I was aware of the author’s enthusiasm for HWMs and was hoping that this would not turn out to be a padded out self indulgence at vast expense.Fortunately it is the complete opposite. It is a meticulously researched investigation into the racing history of HWM. The first volume deals with the story of HWM from the beginning up to the end of the racing team, plus a brief update on HWM up to the current date. Although it covers every race that they entered, it does so in an interesting manner. (I recently read Chevron, the Dick Bennett Story and found myself skipping through the boring accounts of all the races. Not so here.)The accounts of the mechanics’ journeys in overloaded transporters to far off places are particularly authentic. The second volume covers the history of every HWM made (all 19 of them), plus a brief account of all drivers and circuit. Again, this is well written and interesting. There is some repetition (eg the details of a particular car inevitably covers some ground that has already been mentioned in volume 1) but this is not a problem. The selection of photos is very good and the books are beautifully produced on high quality paper. The two volumes are packed in a card slipcase.
