Great quality for price
Asphaltum is a transparent dark rendering soft shadows easier to create. Another great pigment from Gamblin. It comes out a little oily but that is expected with a more transparent pigment. I love it for under painting too.

Missing paint and a whole in the tube!
Whole in tube of paint and missing paint…really AMAZON! Artist paints are expensive and know one’s going to be happy with this!

I ordered 13 tubes of paint. 5 haven’t shown up! They came from different places and times. So it doesn’t work four me. I like them all at once so I can make sure I get what I ordered!!

Best substitute for Burnt Umber
All earth colors are ground from natural sources, Umbers being more of a clay, so they will create dull areas (matte). Overlaid color on top will usually sink in as well. Asphaltum doesn't. Gamblin makes a very rich Asphaltum brown, among other hues.
