Immanuel Kant's classic exposition on morality.

I love Kant, but this translation is horrible. In most cases a near literal translation is very confusing. People in Germany don't always use the same grammar and sentence structure as in English. This is especially the case with philosophy.The book (Thomas Abbot translation): "We have then to develop the notion of a will which deserves to be highly esteemed..."Exactly the same meaning with MUCH less confusion: "Therefore, we should develop a general understanding of a will which deserves to be appraised and highly respected..."That's just a small portion of a sentence that goes on for another 5 lines until it hits a period.I had to read that sentence in Thomas Abbots translation quite a few times before I understood it.Stay away from this translation.
