Safe and reliable
Helps warm up my bird when the house gets a little chilly in the winter. Took her a few days to get close to it but she eventually warmed up to it. (No pun intended).

Birds are happy and warm
I bought one like this years ago. It keeps the cage warmer and I put a blanket over the cage also and it really warms it up. We live in a northern part of the USA so it gets pretty cold at times. But I have more birds and I needed another one so I decided to get one like it. I like that it fastens on the outside of the cage and the heater is on the inside.

Bird loves it - now
OK, so I got this after a scare in which I was afraid my Amazon was developing a respiratory infection. She loves to have her cage in front of the window, but it gets cold here in the northeast! Hence, I order this heater. It seems to be well made, mine is about the size of an Iphone, and was pretty easy to install. I tested it outside the cage for a day to make sure it didn't get too hot, and it maintains the temp as advertised. Warm, but I could hold my hand against it comfortably for a while. The only hitch is that I had to rig a small metal ramekin at the top right under the cord so it wouldn't lay against the cage and be a chewing temptation. At first, Lolita reacted with horror, open beak, leaning dramatically away from it - you would have thought I put a venomous flatulent animal in there with her. This is not an uncommon reaction, so we waited it out. It took two weeks for her to accept it, and even now she will occasionally go over and whack it with her beak ( for no reason that I can see). But she does sit about 3-4 inches away from it, sleeps next to it, and is no longer afraid of it. She used to occasionally appear to be shivering, which meant moving the cage, now I haven't seen that for a while. So far, very good purchase, will update if anything changes.Update- Almost a year since I bought this, it’s been pretty much in use constantly for probably 10 out the past 11 months. Still doing the job, nice and warm, but not hot enough to be a concern. When it was below zero outside I put a heavy blanket over the top part of the cage, and she snuggles in right in front of her heater. This thing is awesome and I’m considering a second one if it’s gonna keep getting this cold! Still a totally awesome purchase, highly recommend!

Works as expected
Works as expected. Our bedroom is way colder than the rest of the house and we we're getting a snow storm. I wanted to make sure my baby was warm. He instantly started nuzzling it when I put it up. I love that it comes with a chew guard already. The size is smaller than I thought but it still does the job. It's easy to clean not very thick and doesn't make any noise.

Ordered two- one works fine, one doesn’t.
Alright. So.I ordered two of these to go into my cockatiel cage which is shared by two cockatiels. I’ve had them for quite a few days and I haven’t seen them go near it once. I decided to touch and feel how warm they both were. One was really warm, the other wasn’t warm at all despite being plugged in. So, essentially I got an ineffective heater on top of an effective heater.Whether or not your birds will interact with the heater really depends on your birds. While one of the heaters was ineffective, the other was perfectly fine. However, my birds still have no interest in going near the heaters. When buying this, you really need to put your bird’s personality(s) in mind. If you have a naturally curious and intelligent bird, then this is the right choice for you. If your bird is naturally skittish and dull, then you should invest in a heat lamp instead.EDIT: I fidgeted with it a few times. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, took out the second cord and blew into it before plugging it back in, etc.. After a LOT of fidgeting, I finally felt warmth from it. Turns out that, for some reason, the “ineffective” heater turns out to just take MUCH MUCH longer to heat up than the other one. I won’t be replacing it since, it technically works. It just works at a slower pace than the other one. Besides that trouble, I like this product! I simply just need to teach my birds how to use it.

The 3x5 is a great size for Quaker Parrots
My Quaker Parrot is a huge fan of this little heater! He avoided it the first day, but by the next day he figured it out. The heater feels like it puts off about the same amount of heat as a good heated blanket, and is plenty warm for a bird to snuggle up to on the colder days. My bird lets me know he's ready for bedtime by snuggling up against his heater every night. We have the heater set up on a Christmas light timer, so the heater turns on at 7pm and turns off at 7am.While the wire that's connected to the heater sits outside of the cage and away from the bird's reach from inside the cage, he can still easily reach it when he's climbing around on the outside of the cage. He quickly and easily chewed through the protective plastic cover coating the wire. The wire itself would be difficult for him to chew through and damage. We still played it safe by running the wire through a PVC pipe and elbow connectors so he can't get to the wire at all now.Overall, excellent product that gives our bird some extra warmth on those cold nights!
