The Honest Toddler: A Child's Guide to Parenting Review: An honest review from and honest mother - This is book is saving my sanity by the minute. I found Honest Toddler on Facebook and have been a zealous follower. I crave the wit and humor. As my toddler approaches the 24 month old milestone, I find myself more bewildered than ever. This book could not have been published at a better time for me, and reading it is a treat! The voice of Honest Toddler has become a bit of a comfort for me. We are a military family and I have a unique set of challenges. I will take all the support and encouragement I can get, and the HT Lovers on Facebook deliver. I find this book, and the literary voice it is written in, to be an important and valuable asset to parents. Should toddlers drink red juice? No. Should parents cave to the whims of their 2 year olds. NO WAY! However, I do believe that there is an important perspective that HT share: live in this moment. And as crazy and irrational as some of HT words sound, they often reflect how our toddlers think. In the end, after a long day of raising a small human, laughter can do wonders for one's sense of well being. I sincerely believe that my life is better because of Honest Toddler (and Ms. Laditan). Funny and smart
This author genuinely GETS toddlers. While I'm not blessed with a toddler of my own yet, I am a teacher in the early childhood field so I have lots of experience working with these amazing little humans. The anecdotes and stories are SPOT ON, many of which I'm guilty of: "gentle hands" comes out of my mouth at least 3 times a day. I find myself reading excerpts aloud to anyone who will listen. Definitely a book that will cause you to laugh out loud, so choose your environment wisely or else you might get funny stares from people on the subway or at a coffee shop. Other reviewers have mentioned that they prefer the Twitter profile because it's better in less doses... I disagree. I personally can't get enough of The Honest Toddler so I think the book is PERFECT! It's great if you have five or ten minutes and are in need of a laugh. You won't be disappointed!

Hilarious and Actually Really Useful
As someone who has followed the Honest Toddler Twitter feed for some time, I wasn't surprised at how funny this book was. But I was surprised at how useful it is as a parenting book. As the mother to an easy, laid back baby, I wasn't fully prepared for what the toddler years would bring. I bought this book for the laughs, but ended up being sincerely grateful to learn that my toddler's newly developed weirdness was just her being a toddler and not a sign of an underlying problem. Crying because she wants milk, then getting angry when I give her milk, then crying harder when I take the milk away? Normal. Refusing to eat the exact same food that is on my plate once I put it on her plate, and screaming until she can sit on my lap and literally take the food off the fork I'm trying to maneuver to my mouth? Normal. Her sudden, profound, fanatical opposition to pants? Normal. Thank you, Bunmi Laditan, for making me laugh AND for the excellent parenting advice.

Has me in stiches and then praying my son doesnt turn out like this!
I do like this book a lot! Its funny and if my toddler could speak his feelings more accurately at 2, I think he would concur with a lot of what Honest Toddler says. But I do tend to think this toddler is a bit of a brat and very high maintenance. BUT if you want light and fun reading, this would be a decent read!

A must for new parents
I follow the adventures of The Honest Toddler on Facebook (hilarity on a daily basis) so I was anxiously awaiting the book. I devoured it in less than two days (neglecting my own toddlers in favor of reading about all I'm doing wrong in the eyes of a toddler). The first 3/4's of the book was laugh out loud funny - with parts I would have to stop and share with any of those around me. Things slowed down the last 1/4, so that was a tad disappointing. That being said, it's overall excellent and a total must have for any new parent. Make this your go to gift addition for all showers, Mother's/Father's Day, etc. Happy reading!!

Hands Down the Funniest Thing I've Ever Read. Ever.
Holy crap is this book HILARIOUS! I've two toddlers climbing up my legs as I type this and still, I smile. I laugh. Hysterically. In fact, my face hurts from laughing. I couldn't put the book down, and have awakened my husband from a dead sleep to read him my favorite excerpts. He didn't really appreciate that, but when I re-read them in the morning and/or typed them word-for-word and shared via email, he also laughed. The Honest Toddler is an absolute genius idea, and I thank Ms. Laditan for sharing her sense of humor with the world, one toddler perspective at a time. You'll love this book if you're a parent, grandparent, babysitter, or anyone who has come within a mile radius of a "loud response" or "red drink" mustache. Seriously, go buy this book. I've been a fan of The Honest Toddler's wicked personality since s/he started tweeting about the problems faced by modern toddlers (you may not believe it, but there are a LOT). The blog is hilarious too, but this book is the best yet. I received it yesterday and haven't been able to put it down--and if you were riding the tube with someone reading and unable to suppress their laughter, that was me. Let's be honest, even if you don't have children, everyone has a little bit of HT in them (Cake for lunch? Why is that so inappropriate?). HT's (and Ms. Laditan's) voice needs to be heard by parents, parents to be, and anyone who wants to reminisce about their own childhood and the joys of having your parent/servant cater to your every whim. Absolutely love this book!

Best baby book I've read. Hilarious. Sees things from a toddlers perspective and tackles many toddler issues with great fun and humour. There are so many books that tell you what to do - this isn't one if them. The way it's written makes you connect with you baby in a joyful way and reminds you to keep your sense of humour in parenting. Highly recommended.
