X-Men: Days of Future Past

What not to do.
The original two issues of Uncanny X-Men are considered to be classics nearly on par with the seminal Dark Phoenix Saga, so it was with great anticipation that I purchased the novelization.First off, the writing is solid, the story moves at a great pace and it's a fairly quick read. It's definitely more solid than most of these kinds of books tend to be. Though, that may be just because of the original story it's based on.I'd be curious to learn how this story reads to someone who hasn't read the comics because I feel like that's the only way to truly enjoy it.As I read this I began to doubt that author had more than a passing familiarity with the characters he was using.Events occurred that are completely at odds with subsequent stories (at least in the comics). *Minor spoiler* a character dies in the book that is absolutely essential in later stories.Certain relationships are changed and the climax of the story just barely resembles the original resolution.Again, I'm coming at this as someone who has been reading the comics so I'm definitely biased. I do think it probably reads better to someone who wants to read about these characters but has neither the time or the inclination to invest in and read the original comics.

First time ever felt the need to review.
I noticed that there had been Zero reviews for this and so I thought I'd go ahead and let others know how I felt.I literally just finished this book not even 3 minutes ago. I've been glued to it since I got it. It's a pretty quick and fast read. But very engaging. I very very much enjoyed this prose novel! Just a warning for those who have seen the movie and might think this is related. They bare the same title and have the same basic plot. But this is not based on the movie. It's based on the comic book version. Which was equally as great! This was great because it gave more insight to what the characters where thinking and feeling. Reading about some deaths just crushed my heart and I felt the pain. I bought the rest of the newer marvel prose novels in hopes they are just as good as this! I'm not sure which to start next. I also own a lot of the older marvel novels and have read a few of those. You won't be disappointed with this and I highly recommend buying it! I loved the movie, the comic and now this!! The only downside to this is that it couldn't keep going. As In I didn't want it to stop. I have read that the author is possibly doing another based on age of apocalypse! I really hope so!!! Enjoy!!!

This book sucks. I never read the Days of Future Past ...
This book sucks. I never read the Days of Future Past storyline in the comicbook, but I hope it was better than this novel. In the future the sentinels have killed all but a handful of mutants who eventually rise up to defeat their robot masters. How did the sentinels ever kill almost all mutants when the X-Men defeat them with ease. Even the supposedly super-sentinel Omega Sentinels are killed single-handedly by Storm and Colossus (one by Colossus and another by Storm). Not to give away too much of the plot (spoiler warning), but as the X-Men make their way, in a straight line as stated in the book, to the sentinel base fighting off sentinels along the way, they reach the base and are able to make a surprise attack! It is even mentioned in the book that according to the sentinels the X-Men could be anywhere (but not at the end of the straight line leading right to the sentinel base.) That was just one problem I had with the book. I haven't finished it yet (I'm at the end of the book during the final fight between the Brother of Mutants and the X-Men), but I assume the author forgot about Nightcrawler. I understand that if Nightcrawler was present during the fight he would be able to teleport a certain somebody to saftey and basically end the book. Not dramatic enough, so since the author has not mentioned Nightcrawler in a while, I assume he is still sitting in the car where he was last mentioned. There are other flaws, but I've already complained enough. I bought this book by accidently clicking the one click buy option or whatever, but on the bright side it was cheap.

A blast from the past, err, future.
Very well written. Grew up a Marvel fan in the 60's, and read everything they put out in X-Men. This seems to in line with what was gospel back then. May have been a few differences, but on the whole a great story line. The present day Marvel movies on the whole have my vote as well. Even when there had to be some changes, even those were well thot out. Sgt Fury, Col. Fury, as an example. Jackson plays a great Fury as well.

Amazing adaptation!
I had read the original comic version of this story years ago and found the original disjointed and somewhat hard to follow. However, this novel brings into clarity the best parts of the original. It stayed true to the original but was more effective at setting the scene and horror of the situation that the X-Men faced in both the present and future. The only part I had issues with were the images interspersed through the last half. I don't know if it was the kindle format but the images were of things that occurred in previous chapters.

The future is closer than it seems
This is a classic x-men tale and now it's in novel form we have a chance to really get into the ins and the outs of the future that the x-men face in the camps. We see what happens when there is a last dish effort to stop the sentinels...we see them older and very tired from the horrors they have faced. However at the same time we see the present day showing the start of Storms leadership and her sheer power and beauty in leading her team. This is a fantastic read and in many ways mirrors soo many things going on today..

Mp3 not audio CD
Would have liked to know it was an MP3 CD. Was only advertised as CD, which to me means old-school audio CD. Does not work in ordinary CD players, only PCs and the like. Would have preferred traditional style.

Delusione totale!

Just Finished This Book Last Night
I have to say I really enjoyed this book. I saw the movie first and saw this had come out, so I wanted to see what the original material was like. The movie and the book at polar opposites of each other but I enjoyed both versions. Definitely worth picking up!
