Will the blade part get dull over time? Using it every day on my Chihuahua's?

so far, the blade hasn't gotten dull and I use it often. I got it about 6 months ago.

Can it be used on the chest and belly?

I have the furminator and my cat hates it! is this a better option? although i try to be extremely gentle, i feel as though this is just too much.
