Not quite as fine as I would have liked
Maybe I’m being fussy, or used a strainer that was just too fine, but it takes an awful lot of effort to force this through a fine strainer. Otherwise, it whisks up nicely and I was able to make a perfect Matcha Latte. The flavour is quite strong, though, so one heaped spoon between two Matcha Lattes is quite enough, but thankfully there is not much bitter taste.

Big pouch, ideal for adding the iconic matcha taste, nutrients & colour to recipes, strong flavour
The pouch of tea from Otsuka Green Tea Co arrived in perfect condition, it’s a long Mylar lined plastic pouch that arrived heat-sealed with a branded label and informative sticker placed onto the front and back of it. It’s got the usual quick-tear tab and there is a grip-seal section in the neck of the pouch that does a reasonable enough job of sealing the pouch up between uses. This is quite a large pouch for the price, which makes sense because this is listed as Classic Grade which is technically the ‘lowest’ grade of what’s actually sold as Matcha in the Culinary/food side of things. This is still proper matcha, it’s just intended for a specific purpose and while it’s not as high grade as something being marketed as ceremonial grade, it’s still good stuff. Considering the fact that you’d be paying close to or more than the price of this 100g of classic grade for a 25-30g tub of the highest grade stuff, this classic grade makes way more sense in recipes where you’re using potentially 20-30 grams for a single cake or batch of cookies. It also has a very intentional strong bitter umami that’s robust enough to survive the baking process and it does a good job of flavouring recipes and blended drinks alike, basically any use where the subtle and delicate flavour of higher grade drinking matcha would struggle. There’s nothing technically stopping you from drinking this as a tea, and it does in fact have some info on the package for doing so properly, which is always appreciated, but I wouldn’t be using this as a daily tea personally.I grabbed this to try my hand at making some blended drinks and for trying my hand at some matcha based baked goods, which it does just fine, which is to be expected since that’s the intended use. I’m not exactly the best baker around, but I was able to make a serviceable and tasty batch of cookies on my first attempt with an online recipe and there is enough in this pouch for 3-4 big batches of cookies.A lot of the marketing around matcha in the west is just made up to be fair so it can be confusing if you aren’t sure what you want or need. Honestly ceremonial grade tea isn’t really a thing, the main categories of matcha are for drinking or for food and this certainly falls into the latter. Otsuka have been honest and up front though in the product listing and packaging, and it’s been clearly indicated as classic grade throughout.Overall I can’t really fault the matcha, it’s far cheaper than the stuff intended for drinking, and it’s a good way to get quite a lot of it without spending a heap of money, which is what you’re after when you’re buying it as an ingredient or additive for other drinks or for making food.

Strong matcha tea
At the time of this review you can buy this pack of matcha green tea for around £13i have tried a few matcha teas.this one is strong flavour.instruction are 1 teaspoon to 70 ml water, that is a small drink so i trebbled the water and eased back on the ground matcha powder but it was still very strong.i think it will be a bit of trial and error to get it right for me personallyIf you are thinking of buying one i would recommend it, I hope the review provides a bit more relevant information and is helpful

Extremely delicious, premium tea.
This tea is Classic grade, which I think is equivalent to culinary grade. It says it’s best for dessert, ice cream, etc. Ceremonial grade would be used for making tea. However, I did use this for making mocha tea using a traditional whisk, and the result was far superior to other teas I have tried.I can say that this stands out for it’s flavour, smoothness and lack of any bitterness. Compared to other matcha teas I’ve used, this is by far the best. The brand has a rich history and a great reputation for its tea.If you are going to drink this tea, make sure to do it properly. The water should be about 80°C and the tea whisked vigorously. I’m sure anyone buying this tea will know what to do with it, but it pains me to watch people use matcha as a regular tea and ruin the delicate flavour.
