A true workhorse replacement
Update: The 1.5m version of this cable has been going for a decade for me. I've moved twice, put an unknown amount of hours on it over the years (10s of thousands of hours per year easily). This thing connected to my Senny 558s have been my most reliable piece that I've ever owned. I've now bought a second cable with an adapter to connect to my bass Amp. Recommended now and forever. Original review: I bought this to replace that ridiculous cable that comes with the Sennheiser 558s. I needed something shorter and something with a smaller 3.5mm end (the 558s cable is huge, almost the size of a Bic lighter). I found these and they seemed good so I bought them. Pros 1. 1.5m was a good length. Long enough for use while walking or sitting at the desk, but not so long that you can jump rope with it. 2. The sound is fine by my ears. Sounds the same as the cable it replaced with no degradation or improvement. It's a cable doing cable stuff. 3. The braided cable feels of high quality. 4. There are springs at both ends to help alleviate the pressure of where the cable meets the sleeves for the connectors. I love this. 5. Fits in the locking mechanism of the 558s. 6. Comes with a 6.5mm adapter in case you still need one. I don't but I like that this cable replaces both connections just in case. Smart thinking. The adapter also screws in so it doesn't have any wiggle. 7. The whole thing just feels really high quality. Time will tell if it's durable (obviously), but on the face of it, this thing looks, feels, and acts like a seriously nice cable. Cons 1. None so far. I don't like the whole "proprietary locking mechanism" nonsense that Sennheiser uses because it makes these cables more expensive. Other than that, no problems here. Also, the braided cable makes noise that you can hear in the headphones when it rubs up against itself, but that's true for all braided cables so I didn't see the need to make it its own thing. If the cable breaks I'll come back and change the review, but for now it's everything I was hoping it'd be.

Great quality cable, exceeded my expectations.
- Build Quality - This cable is nice. The braid is plastic so it won't fray like fabric would. The cable is very lightweight, to the point that it made me question it's quality, but that doesn't seem to be ab issue. The red color of the core is very subtle, so it doesn't really bother me (I hate red). The large end of the cable has some type of spring to protect it from sharp bends, and is actually quite firm and works well. Both "silver" ends have kind of a pink-ish hue which looks very nice, not quite pink but not quite boring silver. - Sound Quality - I'm not a very experienced audiophile, but I'm able to tell subtle differences in sound quality. This cable sounds as good as the original that came with my HD560s and has no volume loss or noise / static from the wire rubbing against your shirt. Overall it's an outstanding cable. We'll see if it stands the test of time, but the build quality is good and sturdy, so I'm expecting it to last.

Works great for almost a year, then it broke, and the seller promptly replaced it 2 day shipping!
Used this for a little less than a year. It's not as durable or flexes as nice as the original but it surely beats paying full price for the original cable. No issues with audio quality. After almost a year of use unfortuntely the cable developed an internal break near where it connects to the headphones (there was no fraying on the exterior jacket); I couldn't say whether it was from me flexing it too much or a manufacturing defect, but I certainly wasn't sure. However, that put me within the 1 year warranty period. I contacted the seller, they apologized and asked for my shipping address, and a replacement arrived within 2 days. Really fast! So at the end of the day I'd recommend buying this as it's a fairly quality product for a good price, and the seller/manufacturer definitely stands behind their product 100%.

Works Great for HD598/599, M40x
I've ordered maybe 8 cables from NewFantasia/NeoMusicia now for various headphones and they've all been great. Beefy enough and built well enough to send the signal unhindered. Zero change in sound from the stock cables on any of my headphones including Sennheiser HD580 and AKG K712 Pro. NewFantasia/NeoMusicia are great because you can get them in 5ft which is a rare length. I'd recommend looking at these if you just need a different length cable. Audiophiles looking to get that last 1% out of their gear should probably look elsewhere. Solidly built cable. Only very slight microphonics from the nylon braid on clothing. Nothing that bothers on a desktop amp. Nice upgrade in practicality from the 9ft spaghetti cables most headphones come with. Using on a desktop setup with a Schiit Asgard 2 amp. Fits a little tighter in the headphone than the stock cable but still fine. Works and looks great on my HD598s, HD599s. These also fit the M40x and M50x perfectly as Audio Technica uses the same locking lugs as Sennheiser. I ordered one of these for my M40x as well and it works great. As for durability, don't beat on these cables. Just treat them nicely and they will work for a long time. They aren't super tough but they're fine for desktop usage. They really aren't intended or built the right way for portable use. These might not have perfect QC but when you get a good cable they're totally fine. There are several similar cables floating around the internet all using parts from similar OEMs and the ones from this seller always seem to use the best of the available parts. Especially the headphone-side end connectors. They're mass manufactured and cheap but their design means a good one is a good one. They're just copper cables with soldered ends and gold plated connectors. Not much can go wrong. I really like these. Perfect cheap upgrade to make any pair of headphones a little nicer to use.

Terrible Cable Quality
If the cable rubs against anything, a horrible sound reverberates through the headset. The cable is made out of some cheap plastic or something leading to a terrible texture and, I would assume, the awful sound when it barely touches anything. Avoid this cheaply made product

I'm really glad I bought this if nothing more than for the ...
First off I am NOT an audiophile. I know that listening to music on a cell phone is not the same as hooking your headphones up to an amplifier or computer. That being said, the cable that comes with these headphones is not realistic for personal listening. I'm really glad I bought this if nothing more than for the length. I've looked into splicing your own cables and I know this cable is nothing special. That being said, It's a good quality cable with a nice cable sheath over it. My pros: The sheath provides stability and an anti-tangle quality to the headphone. I mostly use it around the house or at the gym. Cable stays in place and if positioned correctly, causes no issues. The cable itself is also of the right thickness and flexibility that it just feels right. Audio quality out of a phone is good enough. I'm not doing professional work, just listening to sound on the go. The length is perfect. I may complain for athletic applications about it being too long but I typically bundle any cord I purchase to meet my needs. If you're super particular about length, buy the materials and make your own cord. For what you'd spend on your own supplies, time, and labor, this cord is just fine for every day personal carry. I use the included cord for my stationed use at a computer but I like having a secondary cord to just unlplug my headphones nad hook them up my device. Just buy it. If you're a casual user, you'll appreciate the shorter quality cord.

It works fine with the HD558s
It works fine with the HD558s, and it looks good while doing it too. They feel more solid when you connect them to the headphones with a more consistent click, unlike the Sennheiser brand cables for them. They're black with red underneath, like more subtle Daedric Armor for those knowledgeable in the Elder Scrolls games. And they don't tangle like many other cheap stock cables on headphones or many thin IEM cables. My main complain is in the feel of the cable, and how "stubborn" they are. They seem to be made of a very plastic-like material that feels hard to the touch, and may also play a part in why they don't take too well to being twisted around in awkward angles at all. By comparison, the V-MODA cable for around this price has a much better feel and is a lot less "stubborn", the only issues with it is being a little easier to kink or tangle, but that can easily be alleviated by running your fingers along the cable (which feels nice with the braided fabric). Overall it just feels a lot better and premium, and is a lot more malleable too. You also have to do a little DIY to make it work with the HD5x8 series though. You can look up videos detailing how to remove the cable locking mechanism which allow you to but basically any 2.5mm in there, like the Nokia 2.5mm to 3.5mm in particular (which you have to do a little work cutting off the rubber outside (which I promise is safe to do)) which you slip onto whatever 3.5mm cable you want to use. It's a bit more work, but it's easy and simple, and the results are IMO worth it. So that's why I gave this product 3 stars, because it's not bad, but it's not that good for the price. $13 for this or $15 for the V-MODA cable + a Nokia adapter, I'd totally go for the V-MODA. And if you're set on getting something that just works out of the box, get the Sennheiser brand short cable for the HD5x8 series. It feels a little less solid when plugging it into the headphones, but it's better than this. In fact, you can get the Sennheiser short cable from Redco Audio for $3. If you want 6ft, get the V-MODA. If you want 4.5ft, get the Sennheiser.
