Q: Would attaching this to a smart phone help cool it down? Mine overheats when I record 4K in hot weather.

I don't think this would work very well. You would have to attach it with heat conducting glue, which is sort of permanent. This would make your phone very bulky and not so easy to carry or use. To make matters worse, you can only attach it to back of the phone, which is probably not metal. So getting the heat out of the phone may not be so efficient. And this is a two way street. Leaving your phone in the sun on a dashboard or seat for example would heat it up. You wouldn't be able to use a protective case with the phone. And the added mass would drive a screen crazing fall that much harder. All in all probably not a practical solution to removing heat from your phone.
