From a time when courage meant something
Like many of my generation I was familiar with the tragic but heroic exploits of Scott and his companions, yet unaware of the unbelievable achievements of Tom Crean.A fascinating, gentle, unassuming old-school hero himself, Crean deserves more recognition than he has received thus far. His country would do well to put his name on the world map.

lacking in material
Clearly the man was a hero but there is a great lack of detail as he was not an officer and not much is documented. The author let his passion for the subject get in the way of research although he did find out some details.

Surprise Read
Interesting tale. Very human. Good cause. Not a story I'd come across. I should like to have known Tom Crean. This story will interest anyone interested in Scott, Shackleton, polar exploration and tales of courage and daring.
