I do cook/am a foodie to some extent, so most of the other baby food cookbooks were way too basic for me- and also not a reflection of what my baby will be eating when she joins the adults in a few months. This book has great pointers and has given me plenty of inspiration as well as little nutrition facts with some of the recipes. For instance, we love the mango/coconut milk/chia seed purée! I didn't know how healthy chia seeds were until this book. It's also not overly preachy or paranoid like some of the other baby cookbooks! That being said, they are all pretty out of date on the most recent medical info on baby food allergies. My baby likes things super puréed so far (she's 7.5 mos) so she does better when I poach vs steam, and I just blend the poaching liquid in with the food to keep whatever leached out of the food during cooking. As for the others I bought: baby food bible: so-so and spent too much time trying to convince me to do what I was already planning to do (hence buying baby cookbooks). Had some good advice on knowing when baby is ready to start solids, etc. Top 100 baby purées: return for a refund. First of all, many recipes are not purées so the title is misleading. It's just also not good. I'm shocked that it's rated so highly and that the author is famous for this stuff. Cooking for baby: my second favorite. Good information about which foods cause or relieve constipation, good for herbs. The baby and toddler cookbook: this one is fine. It's just middle of the road for me. French kids eat everything: I loved reading this book and it has some pretty decent recipes too. It helps you feel calmer about food allergies etc when all the American baby cookbooks can get you a bit worked up. Review: but this amazing book pairs all the purees with an herb or ... - When I first started reading this book I thought I wouldn't learn too much, my kiddo just hit the 1 year mark and we are part purees so I though well probably not much here for me. Boy was I wrong! First and foremost I thought I knew a lot about purees, but this amazing book pairs all the purees with an herb or spice to enhance the flavors for the little ones, I would have never thought about it! I also love the idea that they have that we should think about our kids as just little versions of ourselves and that they should eat essentially little versions of what we eat. I think that is just an amazing idea, where most of us are thinking that babies and kids need special foods and to be different, but they really don't. Some helpful things I also came across in the book were reasons to cook at home, what foods to not give to the kiddos, when and how to introduce both purees and solids, storing purees. I also love that the book is broken up by age, that is so helpful! I am excited to dive into the 12 month section, then the 24 month section. Two recipes I am so excited about for the 12 month section is the sesame tofu stick and health shepards pie. I received this book for an honest review.

And then we wonder why when they become older they have no palate for good, fresh
I don't have children, but I have had plenty of experience with them, from family, and friends, for most of my life. I learned a little bit about how to feed them, as well as what to feed them, and when. See, we've all seen it: Kids being fed processed junk, plain crackers, or a bowl or bag of dry cereal. That's when they're not being fed horribly-colored, pureed mush. And then we wonder why when they become older they have no palate for good, fresh, healthy foods. Thankfully, there's a few folks who want to take matters in their own hands and give you a blueprint for a better baby food. Here's where Little Foodies comes in. See, I was raised eating a world of fresh things, not some processed mush in a jar. As a young child, I even bristled at waitresses offering a child's menu, because by then I was used to eating real, healthy food. And that's thanks to my parents making me real food using just a blender, or a sharp knife. This book is filled with seasonal, fresh, and dare I say it, appetizing looking recipes. Because really, why would you feed your young one something with ingredients you wouldn't eat yourself? From explanations of why we eat, what to avoid, and how to control costs, how and when to transition to solid foods, and everything you thought you knew (but really didn't) is covered in this book. Little Foodies will even give you some basic guidelines as to when you can start feeding your little person more like a, well...person. If you have a little one, it's never too late for Little Foodies to start making then into a "food taster" instead of a head shaker. I received the above product(s) free of charge for the purpose of review. I am not obligated to provide a positive or favorable review, just my honest opinion. My review is based on my experience with the product and/or brand, which may differ from yours.

Viel Spass beim Kochen!
