as the other reviewer says, the very first spongebob story - entitled 'help wanted' - is not on this dvd. so to call it complete first season is something of a misonomer. That drops this one mark as it would be a five star product otherwise.Spongebob squarepants is one of those cartoons that can be enjoyed by all ages. the story of a sponge who lives in a town under the sea, it's bright and colourful enough to keep the kids happy, and there are sophisiticated bits of wordplay and breaking of the fourth wall that will entertain adults.There are three discs in this. the first two have sixteen spongebob stories on them and the third has eight. all run for eleven minutes save for the five minutes [approx] story 'reefblower' at the start of disc one. The discs offer language tracks in english, dutch spanish and french.Disc three has as extras a documentary about the origin of the show. Which is a bit short, but good. And a karaoke section where you can sing along with some of the songs from various episodes, as the words appear on the screen.The box does promise a commentary on the episode 'plankton' on disc one, but I couldn't find anything like that on the disc.If you're epileptic or don't like flashing lights beware of the episode 'jellyfish jam' on disc one as it has lots of flashing colours and quick changes of scenery in it. pity, because it's a very good episode.the early episodes in this season are a little rough around the edges animation wise at times, but this a great show and it's still funny even when it was starting out.Great show. Decent collection. but where's that first episode?

This is really sad that my 6-year-old kid was able to download this whole series of SponBob Squarepants without our knowledge whatsoever. He was all along in the lounge and managed to get the TV on and just by a simple click of a button download the whole series, which has cost us in excess of £50. This is not good as Amazon should be asking for a key or something so that little kids like my son (especially children under the age of 12) don't download anything on their own as they are not aware of the monetary value of things. They see things on the TV which they like and will keep accidentally purchasing them if there are no pins or keys which they have to input. This is a failure by Amazon and should be addressed immediately as there will millions of kids across UK watching Amazon series and movies in the school holidays and I think Amazon have tricked my little 6-year-old boy into purchasing this product as he was not asked for a pin or a key when he purchased the product. A child should not be allowed to buy anything online without screening. Amazon should take full responsibility of this error in their system and should take appropriate measures so that other kids don't fall into this trap. (Please note the parental control only goes down to PG and anything with U rating can still be downloaded by kids even with parental control, which is pathetic as only smaller kids will purchase these product without knowing. I personally feel that Amazon are targeting these under 10 year old kids to sell their products, which is really sad to see).

This release is very bare bones, presents English and German Dolby Digital 2.0, same as any other release. Video quality is quite low a lot of the time, very blurry and washed out. For some reason, the episode 'MuscleBob BuffPants' cuts out around the 9:30 minute mark before the episode has finished. The one positive of this release is that it includes the pilot episode, 'Help Wanted', unlike other releases which didn't include it due to licensing issues from the song included in the episode.

This is a great cartoon and I am so very happy to be able to purchase it for myself!! (Lady of 56 years young)!Every time I am subject to suffering with a cold I try to find this on YouTube! - title of this episode is Suds.One more sneeze and spongebob's eye will fall down! Always gets a laugh and a smile under such horrible conditions!Highly recommended! 😜

Good quality, kept my granddaughter amused time and time again. Must have watched this many, many times. Watches this on my kindle, so much so that I have just bought her a kindle for her birthday, however, its on my account and locked so that she can only watch what we intend for her.
