Painting Animals in Gouache: Easy to Follow Step by Step Demonstrations and Tips to Create Detailed Illustrations (Natural Science Illustration in Gouache)

I've been very frustrated with trying to find gouache instruction online, because there are very few sources for it and the ones that exist (like the great James Gurney) have a style that's too loose for what I want to do. I'm a fairytale artist, so I'm not looking to create photorealism, but I definitely want to skew toward details and realism.I found these books on Amazon and, although I wasn't expecting much because most instructional books aren't very good at instruction (and I learn better through videos than I do through books, because I like to see the techniques), I decided to give this one a try. I was really happy and surprised to find that it's a really good instructional book that lays things out step by step through both photos of each step and detailed accompanying text, shows techniques and tells you exactly what colors and brushes to use.Since I've been so happy using this book this summer, I asked for a couple of her other books for Christmas and my spouse got them for me (and they're equally good).

This is a very nice book which explains how to use gouache for animal illustrations. My biggest challenge is to learn gouache to illustrate the human figure. I was hoping for a more general introduction on the medium.Still I'm very happy with it.

My partner was struggling a little with gouche- we bought this book and he's working through the very clear and detailed instructions- some of the clearest we've seen- he's just finishing the pony painting and produced excellent results, boosted his confidence enough and his artistic understanding of the medium for him to progress to his own works. Sehr enttäuschend es sind nur 3 Tiere drin und ein Auge....aber dafür sehr schöne Schritt für Schritt Anleitung.

Les projets de ce livre sont très intéressants. Je n'ai jamais peint à la gouache et j'ai bien hâte de m'y mettre en suivant les conseils dans ce livre.

Il n est pas nécessaire de parler parfaitement Anglais pour comprendre, les dessins sont "très parlants" une palette assez large qui permet de traiter de nombreux animaux -
