Nearly 10 years after the original series ended, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is here. Lorelai (Lauren Graham) still runs the Dragonfly Inn, and now lives with Luke (Scott Patterson). Her daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), now 32, juggles career complications and ex-boyfriends, while matriarch Emily (Kelly Bishop) adjusts to widowed life. In four memorable chapters studded with drop-ins by quirky Stars Hollow friends, the Gilmores confront long-standing unresolved issues, going head-to-head with passionate heart-to-hearts. This stirring, smart and emotional revival is both familiar and full of surprises. It’s good to be home.

Really great update to a favourite series
The four episodes are a wonderful and moving update to one of my favourite series. The musical in Episode 3 is a bit dumb but the others are fantastic. I am so sorry there is no more than this. I adore Lorelai and Luke together and the whole cast is excellent.

Good conclusion
For anyone who's watched the original Gilmore Girls this is a must see I think, just to find out "what happened next". The series came to a satisfactory conclusion although unsurprising.Rory still seemed to be unsettled, wiffling back and forth across the Atlantic with alarming speed of turn around. Mother and daughter remained very close but still a little child-like which, for me, was the only disappointment. In this Rory is in her early 30s so a good few years had elapsed since the ending of the original series and, in my naivety, I'd thought they'd maybe would have matured a bit.Still enjoyable though.

As described
Arrived in excellent condition and works perfectly. My only issue is that the description on the back is in German. As it’s a Christmas present I had to play it to check that it’s in English - which it is, just something to be aware of when ordering.

Language barrier? Thankfully not!
Despite it being a Region 2 release in the UK, I got slightly panicked when the outer sleeve was in several languages but English, but happy to report discs run absolutely fine and automatically in English (other options are available if I remember right, the person who got it for Christmas hasn't complained!)

Great if you're a fan
Great if you're a fan. Probably no point if you've never seen the original series. Beautifully done, captures and extends the magic realism of the original series, gives cameo appearances to most of the old favourite characters.

Comfort Food For The Soul
This is four ninety minute episodes of wonderful time-and-the-river story telling. Gilmore Girls offers up some of the most beautiful and eccentric characters ever to appear on television, and its narrative constructions are like perfectly realised pieces of classic American literature. History, community, a sense of place, self-growth and an overiding gratefulness for the abundance of honest harvest. No, seriously, that's the real beauty of it all.
