They were fantastic. They fit well
I purchased two pair of these Cargo pants for a trip with my bride of 42 years to the Amazon rain forest. They were fantastic. They fit well, were lightweight, breathed well in a very hot and humid environment, dried quickly, and appear to be rip-proof (I went through some pretty thick jungle with a lot of thorns and the pants came through with no visible rips or tears). Though very lightweight, they were also thick enough to prevent mosquito bites, which was a big concern for my wife and me because of mosquitoes and the Zika virus. The lightweight web belt that comes with them has a convenient quick release clip that took a bit of practice to release. Because I am a bit on the heavy side, I preferred a much wider web belt, which easily passed through the belt loops. I used the web belt that came with the pants as a neck strap for a water bottle. Since returning to the states, I wear these around New York City and they are very comfortable. The zipper pocket is big enough for a small wallet and a cell phone. All in all, I am very satisfied with this purchase.

So great I've bought a second pair and think I'll buy one more!
Great pants for the summer! Just bought a second pair. I got my first pair at a going out of business sale, and loved them so much, I ordered a second pair from Amazon. The material is so lightweight, I expect they'll be even cooler than shorts in hot weather. Being nylon it's vulnerable to burning embers, so be careful around a campfire, but it's also ripstop. The first pair I bought was the Fossil color which I would call a light Khaki. The color I bought from Amazon was Gravel, a slightly less dense olive green color than the U.S. Army green. Depending on the light, it almost has a touch of grey in it. Of the six pockets, the two you put your hands in are conventional. Three others are secured by velcro and have a little tab to open them, and one is secured by a zipper. They're so great, I plan to order one more pair in Tusk, which looks to me in the photo to be a slightly darker Khaki than the Fossil. The belt's OK, but I bought something similar that's a bit wider and has some color in it. The 34X32L size fits me perfectly, maybe just a bit on the large size, but perfect for summer.

Comfy cargos not sized true
These Silver Ridge Pants are relaxed cargos made of ultra light fabric similar to parachutes. When the trade winds kick up they inflate and I look like the Michelin man! I suspect the billowing drape enhances interior airflow and cooling. They sit higher on the waist than most current trouser designs, i.e., above the navel. The "tusk" product picture looks darker and more fitted than these trousers really are. I bet clothespins were used to tighten up leg fit on the model. Wish they really fit like they do in the picture! I normally wear 32" waist and 30" to 32" inseam but bought the Silver Ridge in a size larger waist (34 x 32) per Amazon reviews. And, yep, 34" waist fits perfectly, i.e., like a true 32." The inseam is true to size so the 32" I bought is too long for flats but okay with boots (a little bunching at shoe). The six pockets are decent sized: five secured with velcro and one with a zipper. The cargo pockets are low profile and don't look bloated unless stuffed. Oddly, pockets are lined with mesh, similar to swimming trunk pockets. Good for cooling but the mesh snags on keys and fingernails. Also, not a good home for your camera or smartphone since they're in contact with sweaty skin. I put the Silver Ridge to the test in the humid heat of Honolulu and found them comfortable--feel almost like nothing--and a couple notches cooler than jeans or cotton cargos. The fabric is paper thin and, if you get caught in a downpour or splashed, they become semi-transparent. So no go commando! The upside is they dry quickly and are easy to wash in hotel sinks. All in all a nice pair of pants for travel, hiking or fishing during summer months: sun protective, cool and featherlight. Hopefully next year's model will have a slimmer cut and lose the mesh pockets.

Outstanding comfort and value
I work outdoors a lot as a construction manager and have been researching lightweight, moisture-wicking, reasonably priced cargo pants. After reading the reviews, I ordered a pair of these Columbia Silver Ridge pants. Long-term durability remains to be seen, but so far these are the most comfortable pants I think I have ever owned. It's like wearing very utilitarian pajama bottoms. I stay very comfortable, even in the 95+ degree, 90+ % humidity weather here in the deep South. They fit great, are very lightweight, take up very little space in a bag and are extremely functional. I have since ordered 2 more pair of the Silver Ridge (and a pair of prAna Stretch Zions to evaluate, have not received them yet). I wash them with other clothes and hang to dry, they are wearable in about an hour. A caution about the fit. I have an athletic build, 6', 175 lbs and usually wear 33 waist/32 inseam pants. The Silver Ridge have elastic on the sides so I ordered 34 waist/32 inseam. These were good in the waist but about 2" too long, so returned and exchanged for 34w/30i and was rewarded with an outstanding fit. Not to crazy about the cheesy little belt that comes with them, wish Columbia would keep the belt and lower the price a few bucks, but that's a minor quibble. These pants appear to be great for any outdoor activity like working, hiking, hunting, fishing, etc... Will try to update in 6 months regarding the durability. I own products from all the big names TNF, OR, Arcteryx, Patagonia and they usually have outstanding performance. The Columbia products generally perform as well for less $, making them outstanding values.Lot's 'o bang for the buck, I'll buy more and recommend them to my friends

I have used Columbia apparels in past, but never faced this problem. When i washed this trouser for the first time i was shocked to see the green colour of this trouser running and bucket was full of dark green coloured water . I was lucky not to wash this trouser with my other clothes else it would have ruined all my other clothes. i wonder how nylon fabric was releasing the colour like the cheap roadside brands. I doubt this is the original product. beware .
