Great "starter" camera for young learners
I bought this for my son's 3rd birthday, and spent a little time reviewing quite a few options. I chose this one for it's simplicity, ease of use, and durability. There are only a few buttons and the best part is that it generally functions like a real camera. No, the pictures are never that great, but his older cousins took some and they came out perfectly clear! The camera is perfect for teaching a young child the basics of picture taking, and the ease of use, I think, is what is most important here. From a preschoolers perspective, this camera is quite real. AND when they drop it, which they will (& my kid is not rough on his toys & this has been dropped numerous times) the camera can handle it. They also managed to make the surface of the lens all the way inside the recessed opening to keep it safe from fingerprints, which I found to be pretty smart. We don't really transfer the images to the computer, but we did it once to test it out, we had no issues & he enjoyed seeing them, but he mostly likes to look through them on his camera, much like he sees me doing, I suppose. If you're into photography and are looking for a way to introduce your kid to it, this camera will do the job and gives them independence to do it on their own without ongoing help from an adult. My son now likes to put it on "his" tripod, which saves me much anxiety as he is no longer trying to handle "my" tripod. . .For the record, we use it occasional, a few times a month, and it is still running on the initial batteries too!

Exactly what I was looking to buy for my 3 year old
My almost 3 year old loved his baby toy camera when he was an infant, loved mommy's "old" fisher price classic camera. I wanted to find one that was durable enough for a 3 year old put would actually take real pictures too. Very sturdy. He loves copying me and when he sees me taking pictures, he needs to run and get his camera too :) He likes that he can cycle though all pictures he has taken, he is very proud of them and likes to show off the pictures he's taken. I would have given 5 stars, but I only wish the delete button to delete pictures was placed somewhere else. He gets confused sometimes and deletes pictures on accident. But he is 3... And it does come with a nice cord to download the pictures to your computer, so it's not so bad if he deletes them. The quality of the pictures isn't great but it still is exactly what I was looking for - for his age :) It is nice too that it has both ability to look through view finder OR the screen - like a regular digital camera - he likes that it is like my camera and can see the picture right in the big screen on the back. Overall - great product!

Decent camera for a 4 year old
We got this camera for my son for his birthday because we were tired of him always using our camera and worried that he might break it. He loves the camera! It's extremely kid-friendly. Not only is it easy to use but it seems pretty durable too. It has been dropped (even down a flight of stairs) several times and still works just fine. The pictures are ok although it is obvious a child took them because they are a little fuzzy sometimes. He never seems to care and honestly he likes looking at them right on the camera and you can't even tell how fuzzy they are on the small screen. It comes with a link to download software from fisher price but we haven't ever done it since he likes looking at the pictures right on the screen. Would definitely recommend this camera if you're looking for a reasonably priced camera for your child.

Not quite what I expected
I bought two Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Cameras as Christmas gifts for my nephews this year, ages 4 and 3. They liked them and they did what was promised, but I was disappointed in the photo quality. The images, in review, are quite grainy and unfocused. This is including photos taken by adults; I did take that into consideration before passing judgment. I haven't seen what the photos may look like once they've been downloaded/printed, but I was disappointed initially. The ease of use, though, was spot on for my budding photographers. They definitely had fun taking their pictures with it and the sound effects when turning it on/off, retrieving the photos, etc. were kid-friendly.
