Best wireless heat gun EVER
Instant heat, easy to use, little heavy, built like a tank. I've used Milwaukees, Dewault, various corded heat guns with multiple modes. This thing works the best for heat shrink, drying paint, pealing paint... so usefull

Save your money
I bought this to aid me in replacing/splicing wiring connectors on automobiles. The thought was no having an extension cord to get tangled up in when under a vehicle and splicing in new pigtails on oxygen sensors would be nice... I either got a lemon from the factory, something got messed up in shipping, or these are just not that great. The first time I used it, even on max, it did not get very hot. You would think that at its claimed 1100°F that I would not be able to hold my hand in front of it, but I was. It was not hot enough to work with my self-soldering heat shrink butt connectors which requires 230°F. Just save your money and buy a decent heat gun that plugs into the wall, and run an extension cord. If you need a torch, buy a torch. If you need a heat gun, get one that plugs in and taps into unlimited angry pixies in the wall from the power company. This isn't the best of both worlds - it requires you to have butane and charged batteries to get substandard performance. Junk!Updated: On the second time I pulled this out, to show to a friend how bad it is, we opened it up. The heat level switch is plastic with a metal e-clip holding it in place. The plastic had cracked. This was likely upon installation, and is what I consider to be a factory dud. Initially I thought the selector switch had a detent on it, but it was really the cracked plastic slipping over a knurled valve thimble. By removing the selector switch we could directly access the valve knob, and actually get butane out the end. It creates heat now. However, I imagine that due to the proximity of the plastic valve switch to the metal tube this would eventually lead to degradation and failure of the plastic. You can remove this plastic failure piece, but it also opens your tool up to the elements for dirt and dust to get inside. I'd still recommend a good corded one (I can't imagine why you'd need this in a "remote" scenario - plan ahead and take a generator I guess). At work we use the Master Appliance brand with good results.

Work the 1st time but never again.
The first time I used it to test it it started to get hot. Then i took it to a job and pulled the trigger a ball of flame came out .Now it will not Ignite.Update I found some debris in the small orifice that the gas has to go through right before it gets ignited all works great now.

Not even close to specs
The concept is great except it doesn't get hot enough to melt heat shrink and the directions had no troubleshooting section. I love my ridgid tools but this one went back and I bought a different brand.

Loses Butane Charge, not hot enough
I purchased this thinking that it would be a replacement for a corded heat gun. While it does its job marginally to generate heat, my unit loses the butane charge completely overnight. As a hobbyist, I do not use heat guns 24/7. So every time I have to use it, it has to be recharged even if I only have to use it for less than 10 minutes.

Should blow (hot air) but it sucks
Thought I got a bad one at first. Exchanged it and second one sucks too. Didn’t want to light. When it finally did it didn’t get very hot. Then wouldn’t light again. Barely hot enough for heat shrink tubing. I really wanted to like this heat gun but the two I got did not work.

It died after 10 minutes of use.
I uhm... it died after 10 minutes of use. What more can I say? Well, it's not purchased from Home Depot, so Rigid didn't let me register for the lifetime warranty, and yes, I called, and they explicitly told me that. Now it's died and Amazon won't let me get a refund... so I'm SOL and out $60. Yay.

Nice tool for heat shrink
Works good so far for heat shrink connectors. Not sure how long a tank lasts and wish it has a sight indicator or fuel gauge but for the money feels like Ridgid quality and a battery lasts forever
