Super great retention
Super great retention for cabinets if your nice hinges magic plastic return tabs break off because... your child decides to push the door past the limit of the hinge and the door now sits open an eight of an inch but otherwise functions. Easy to install and works well. Big enough pack and priced fairly enough that I was able to do all of the cabinets that the kid broke "just looking" into. Little bugger. Anyways, good product.

Well-made, but metal plate needs to be taller/wider
These are well-made, and I am glad that they come with holes for screws in both the magnet part and the metal plate so they can be installed without adhesive (my landlord doesn't allow adhesive). Once you get them installed, they hold well - exactly the right about of force to keep a cat out of the cupboard while still opening easily for a person. Part of the trick to installing them well is to put the magnet part further forward in the capboard than you think you need to - very few cupboard doors actually close flush, so for the magnet to make contact when the door is closed it needs to be further forward so it fully touches the plate. With all of that said, these do have one drawback if you plan to install them with screws instead of adhesive - the metal plate is very narrow, so your measurements have to be extremely precise or it will have trouble making contact with one or the other of the two magnet strips in the magnetic piece (and you do need both to get the door to hold closed well). I wound up re-drilling holes a few times to get the metal plate to line up with both magnets. They need to make the metal plate rectangle taller/wider so there is a little more room for measurement error. This won't be a problem if you use the adhesive, because then you just let the magnet hold the metal plate, put adhesive on it, and close the door on it so the adhesive sticks with it in the right spot. But if you have a landlord who doesn't let you use adhesive and you have to install it with screws only, a bigger metal plate would certainly make that easier!

Good General Use Cabinet Catches
Well packaged and functional. They come with their own adhesive strips or you can use your own screws, but the flat strike plate may be hindered by the screw heads if you have the wrong type. You will need to make sure they are the tapered head wood screws to maintain a proper contact surface with the magnetic retaining latch. Not super strong but good enough to keep cabinet doors closed. Would not use in a mobile home as I don't believe the hold is strong enough for securing doors on vehicles in motion, but around the house is fine.

A pain to install
After these are installed, they work fine. Getting them installed, correctly can be a bit of a challenge. Although there is a slot for where the screws go, all it needs is a hole. I put the screws all the way to the back of the slot, because every time you open that door, the magnet wants to go with the metal plate/door. The screws work great for the plates, tapered holes, tapered screws, works great. The magnets are not tapered, and will slide on the screws. Because my cabinet doors have little rubber stoppers on them, I had to make sure the magnet was slightly past the edge of the frame. A few time I missed the mark. I then found that it was easier to shim the plates, than to try to get the magnets perfect. They work, but this could have been better with the right screws for the magnets, or just single holes (not slots) on the magnets.

Good product, work well, easy to install
I used these to replace a number of 20 year old magnetic latches in the custom, flush door cabinets in our kitchen and dining room: - They're more compact (though the magnetic part fit the existing screw holes) and less obtrusive. - The stainless steel is attractive. - The adhesive strips are useful to hold the plates in place long enough to drill starter holes for the screws, much easier than trying to mark where they go; a time saving feature. - They hold the doors closed securly but aren't so strong as to make them difficult to open. - They included extra screws and adhesive strips which is a help. A minor complaint is that the plates placed on the magnets were backwards, i.e., the chamfer for the flat screw holes was on the wrong side. Easy enough to turn them around unless you forget in which case you need to remove the adhesive from the wrong side and from the cabinet door. Only happened once.

Self-positioning. No measuring. Well made. Slick!
My husband and I both do a fair amount of DIY woodworking and simple carpentry, and these (and another style cabinet magnet by the same company) solved a problem. We had built some shallow end cabinets to serve as what cabinet catalogs call "message centers," but had trouble keeping them closed because they were too shallow to accommodate self-closing hinges. One of these magnets on each cabinet solved the problem. Now we get that satisfying "click" every time we close the doors. A great feature of these magnets is that they come with double stick pads so you don't even have to measure. You press one side of a "magnet sandwich" to the frame or door, and close the door. The other magnet automatically sticks to the right position, so when you open the door, both are stuck in position waiting to have the screws put in. Slick!
