Very easy to install
This drive has worked flawlessly for me for almost a year so far, with heavy usage. Very high quality, definitely worth buying a name brand drive that you can trust. I have had zero burning failures. Very easy to install, if you have never changed one just watch some youtube videos. You will be surprised how easy it is to change some computer hardware. It is not as scary as you think, lol.I use these printable DVDS with it Maxtek Premium Grade White Inkjet HUB Printable DVD-R DVDR 16x Blank Disc, 4.7GB, 120min. 100 Pcs Pack. and I have not had one burning issue. These DVDs let you print directly on the DVD with whatever picture or text you want/create. Of course you need a printer that can print DVDs, this is the printer I have and highly recommend Brother MFC-J870DW Wireless Color Inkjet Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax (Discontinued by Manufacturer)Sorry about the long review, just trying to help anyone avoid all the trial and error I did before I found a setup that worked for me.

Works like a charm
Works like a charm!I have a window's 7 HP tower (over a decade old) but it runs wonderfully. However my CD/DVD tray stopped working a few months ago and after trying everything under the sun I figured it had burned out & it was time to replace it.I almost spent $100 to get it replaced when I started looking around online and realized how easy it was to replace and inexpensive! wow for only 18-25 buck I thought it was worth a try.I just finished installing this yesterday and no problems! It worked after the 1st startup and has been playing my DVD's & CD's perfectly! So happy I tried this. It doesn't sound very loud either when the disk is spinning compared to my old one.

Works fine eventually.
Well the first one I got didn't work. Grinded loading the dvd/cd and never recognized loading it. The second one works fine.I bought this to replace a perfectly good dvd drive I bought from ASUS for my new PC build, but the case has a front cover over everything with a button that didn't line up with the ASUS button, so it wouldn't open. The good thing about this one is that the large round button is hit by the outside cover and it works as expected. Gotta go with 3 stars for the first garbage drive.

This thing has had lots of abuse and still works great. Stays clean
ORDERED = 06/26/2016 || SELLER = AmaMax (USA) || PAID = $20.99(Beware of Seller changes! That's how you can get burned!):: PROS ::1.) Not faults, no skipping discs & fits perfectly - as it should.2.) Speeds are consistent, but no rocket ripping.3.) Still working and I am ripping 100's of discs to MP4 (For personal use):: CONS ::1.) NO POWER MODE - Slow sequential reads.2.) NO SOFTWARE at all....least the one I was sent doesn't.3.) No Cable....just a bare drive & it is not really that cheap, cheaper at MicroCenter In-Store.:: OVERALL :: No serious complaints, it works, reads ALL discs no matter the zone for me. I rip lots of movies and show to MP4 for my tablet. This thing has had lots of abuse and still works great. Stays clean....not much dust gets inside. Seem steep price for BARE drive & a Power Mode would be great for sequential reads (ie: CD Rips, but who does that anymore?)

great burner
Good burner. Have tried 5) different brands of cd and dvd in it, and ran quality tests on each burn; and no bad spots, zero C1 and C2 errors, no coasters. Even with a cd that was not in the burner's data base it burnt 100%. Can't beat that! Samsung Electronics 24x SATA Half Height DVD-Writer Internal Optical Drive SH-224FB/BSBE

It works, I'll give it that, but for ...
It works, I'll give it that, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why it will not write at any speed other than .4x. Yes, POINT4x.

Easiest installation I ever did.
Bought two for my two Dell desktops (XPS 9100 and XPS 8700). Put in a week ago and both are working fine. I've used one for burning backup data on DVD about five times and everything went smoothly.Installation was as easy as it could possibly get. Didn't even have to install a driver or anything. Just plugged in and worked as if it came with the machine.

It neither reads nor burns
The device is recognized correctly by the UEFI and by Windows 10. Windows reports that the most recent drivers have been installed in Device Manager. The tray opens and closes correctly. However, it spins up rather noisily attempting to read the disk inserted. It never succeeds. It pauses and when you double-click on the device icon a request is made for a disk and the inserted is ejected. This occurs no matter what disk is inserted, blank or with data.
