Cool scan tool
I was worried after seeing all the reviews from the other manufacturers of the same looking box. But figured I'd give it a try.I'm glad I did. It works perfectly. Plugged it in, red light comes on, paired it with the phone and password "1234" and the Torque app on my Android phone started communicating with it immediately. It blinks a lot of lights when it's communicating. Although, I don't really see them as in my car the adapter is turned with the lights toward the door when it's closed. No big deal, it's probably better that way, no crazy blinking lights at night. The adapter does become a little warm after use, but not hot.I have not decided yet if I should leave it plugged in when I don't drive. The adapter stays on with one red light lit (obviously the OBDII port is active when the car is turned off for fault analysis etc...) but I'm not sure how much power the adapter is pulling when idle and I don't want to have a dead battery when I get in the car one morning.Pros Easy to Use, high quality and works greatCons: none I've found so farI received this product at a discount or free in exchange for my honest review. The opinions expressed her are unbiased and 100% my own. I review products based on my personal experiences and leave reviews reflecting those experiences.

Total Failure
I have a 1997 Isuzu trooper and ordered this particular reader online because the seller stated it was compatible with my vehicle.Connectivity: the Bluetooth connects perfectly to the S4 however the reader could not communicate with the vehicle via all the available protocols and using multiple applications.Windows Software: Piracy, using key generators (which is why the user receives Virus Alerts).Cost: The original price is acceptable only if the device works, however, and in my case, it costed me about USD 25 since I ship all my orders to Lebanon (Middle East) via a fast courier service.Bottom Line: Do not waste your time and your money.

A great product and a real value!
When I first plugged the device in, I could not get it to pair with my Android phone. I put it aside to play with at a later time. The next day, out of the blue, the supplier called me and asked how I liked the scanner. I told the caller I could not get it to pair, but I would try again later. She sent me a link to a YouTube tutorial and offered a full refund if I wanted it.I followed the steps on the tutorial and everything works just fine now. I am most pleased when i get unexpectedly good customer service as I did from this supplier. The software that comes with the scanner is easy to use and understand. I have to explore the depths of the interface to see what all it can do. I can really see what is happening under the hood of my new 2015 Chevy Volt.I highly recommend this product for anyone and can't speak highly enough about the quality of customer service.

Great little tool
My boyfriend has had one of these for a couple of year and finally encouraged me to buy one for my car. He uses his all of the time. I haven't set up all of my options yet. What I do know is it is great to find out what code your car is throwing so that you can look it up and see what is going on, it also allows you to clear the code. My boyfriend uses his all the time to make sure his car is tuned properly. Both of us hae Samsung hone and we downloaded the app and paired the app with the scanner using the buetooth. My boyfirned also uses his tablet so that he can see the dials on a bigger screen. Works perfectly. We both have Pontiacs (Grand Prix GXP and G8 GT). As another reviewer mentiond, we also use Torque Pro. A must have for any car enthusiast.

POOR SOFTWARE
If you ever want to buy a hunk of plastic and stick it on your vehicle so your phone can talk to it and give you absolutely no information at all.. then this is the item to buy. It should be as simple as plugging it in and downloading the app so your phone can chat with the device, but instead you get messages that it cannot find the proper software protocol. Of course there is no way to reinstall the software or the firmware on the device itself so all you are left with is a $20 piece of plastic that is USELESS.

Doesn't work for the cars that probably need it the most.
Tried this device out with various vehicles. Works fine for the newer ones and provides all of the diagnostic info. Unfortunately, when I tried it with a few different 2002 - 2004 cars, GM Ford and Chrysler, the scanner cannot connect to the ecu. The older cars that are more likely to throw a check engine code are the ones I bought the scanner for. If you are looking to diagnose an older vehicle, you may want to look elsewhere.

Did not work for my 97 Lexus SC400 or ES300
*UPDATE* The company contacted me and a very nice woman talked me through connecting, which still didnt work, but they provided me with a full refund without requiring return of the product. Great customer service!***Bought this use with my 97 Lexus Sc400, but when I plugged it in, it connected to my phone, but didnt work at all. I tried using it with the Torque app supplied on the mini disk, but the unit would not connect to my ECU for some reason. Though my car does work with standard obd2 readers at Autozone.I then tried to use it on my Lexus Es300, and it didnt work on there either. I also got an error message from the Torque app saying there might be something wrong with the adapter. I'm not sure if it was a faulty unit, if it doesnt work with my particular cars, or if it just doesnt work with the Lexus brand at all... though other users have reported that it works with toyota which would theoretically have the same design.
