A touching story of friendship, flowers, and falling in love
Sophie's mother didn't seem to know her at all. On Mother's Day, when the community party for mothers and daughters involved a "quiz" to see how well mothers and daughters knew each other, her mom's answers were so outdated! She was so out of touch!Sophie's story is one of trying to figure out who she is; what makes her special. She struggled with not changing based on what others expected or wanted, and in trying to find her unique style. I love the way this had been hinted at and yet was subtle enough that it surprised me to discover this with her.I really enjoyed getting to know Sophie, Micah (her best friend), and Andrew. While the verbal sparring that Andrew and Sophie engaged in was a little sharp at first, it was not over-the-top cruel.Though he didn't have a huge role in the story, I loved Gunner, Sophie's little brother. Being ten, he was old enough to not fall into the super cute kid role, yet he had a vulnerability and innocence that was sweet.Micah Williams' family tans dark. This deterred some of the townspeople from using their catering business, which in a small town is significant. This was mentioned more to explain how Andrew and his father related to the story than having prejudice as a theme. I appreciated the way it was so casually mentioned.Author Kasie West made a great choice in narrating this solely from Sophie's perspective. While I was curious what Andrew thought at times, I was probably more invested in the story because I didn't know. While Maybe This Time is certainly a fun, romantic story, it is also a beautiful investigation of family matters, trust, friendship, and dreams.Kasie West is at the top of my list of favorite young adult authors. Readers of young adult fiction need to read her books!

A wonderful coming of age story with heart and humor
I was anxious to read Kasie West's new novel, and I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed. I wouldn't say that it was my favorite book of hers (which still continues to be Love, Life, and the List and PS I Like You) but it was very enjoyable, though there were a few minor things that I feel could have been better.PROS:- I loved Sophie's self-awareness of the things she did wrong, and how she matures in the course of the story. I was pleasantly surprised at her realizing her prejudices about people, and how she tried to become a better person. This takes a lot of courage, and I admired her for it. I wasn't sure I liked her at first, but she did grow on me a lot.- Sophie's best friend Micah. She was just so sweet and supportive, and I loved her dedication to her work, her family, her town, and her friends.- The male lead, Andrew. He wasn't perfect, but he was a great guy and I really liked his loyalty to his father, and his interactions with Sophie.- The Alabama setting, and the Southern charm of the story.- All the special occasions that took place in the story. It was interesting to read a book that takes place almost exclusively in a party setting, and all the background work that goes into each one of those events.CONS:- The ending was good, but could have been more solid. I was a bit frustrated that some things were left in the air.- Sophie and Andrew took too long to become a couple. Would have liked to see them spend more time together, or just being a couple.- Would have liked a bit more humor in the story. It was there, but it wasn't as lighthearted as I thought at first. Not a bad thing though, just a personal preference of mine.I give it 4.5 stars, and I highly recommend this new book to all Kasie West's fans.

Maybe This Time by Kasie West
Maybe This Time by Kasie WestI should have known when I picked up Kasie West’s newest novel, Maybe This Time, that I wasn’t going to put it down until I finished every last bit of it. The same thing happens to me every time I pick up a novel by Kasie West. I just adore her stories, and I crave another one as soon as I finish one of her books. Luckily for me, Kasie West is an incredibly talented author that doesn’t seem to be slowing down with her book releases. Therefore, I will happily keep diving into each and every story she publishes!Maybe This Time is a love story about two teenagers named Sophie Evans and Andrew Hart. Their paths suddenly cross one day while Sophie is working for the town florist, and Andrew is at the same event helping his dad who is a famous chef.Initially, the two seem to despise each other. But as all great romance novels eventually do, the two's hatred towards each other slowly starts to turn into a drama-filled connection that neither of them seems to be able to resist. As the story continues through the timeline of a year, you are met with event after event that Andrew and Sophie’s paths continue to cross.Like all Kasie West’s stories, the connection between these two characters is real and so engaging. I kept reading late into the night because I was just wishing and hoping that Andrew and Sophie could find a way to realize the love that was blossoming between the two of them.

Fun play on holidays for a YA
I really enjoy Kasie West. I liked the tension between these two characters but I especially loved the flowers and themes tied into holidays. This was a fun spin on a YA. I find that a lot of YAs are a similar story-line, but this was one that I had not read before. I don't know if this story was super realistic for such a small town, but I loved it anyway.Content: CleanLanguage: CleanReligous: NoI would let my teens read Kasie West. She is a great YA author!Happy reading!!

As a writer, I’m always searching for new reads. ‘Maybe This Time’ is my first Kasie West novel and will definitely not be my last.If you love event planning, quirky friendship, charming yet realistic romance and stories where characters are on a journey of finding themselves and what they’re meant to do with their lives, then this novel is for you!The imagery was fantastic. I had no problem following this read! I highly recommend this novel for a vaca read or when you have a day to yourself! :)

Fantastic condition and came earlier than expected
My niece loves this author and asked for a few of her books for her birthday. I don’t think she will be disappointed as it’s in fantastic condition and came earlier than expected which was a bonus.

Special events shine a spotlight on love.
Actual rating 3 and 3/4 stars. It feels like Kasie West has returned to her former writing form with ‘Maybe This Time.’ The last three or four novels I’ve read from her seemed to be lacking is some spark, but it was back proud and true with this release, and I couldn’t be more happy. It did feel like a slow burn for me, and the pacing reflected that, but her writing style, interesting characters, and chunks of the novel centred around holiday events kept me engaged as a reader. I would have liked ‘Maybe This Time’ to have a faster pace just so the whole misunderstanding trope wasn’t as drawn out. But the character arcs were cute and ended the story with a satisfactory *ding*Sophie is an adorable character as a protagonist. She is totally wrapped up in her fashion designing and has a clear path set out for her future. It acts not only as an escape from her small town life and family issues, but as her ticket to New York City and following her dream. All of her notions and attitudes get challenged – even the prospect of her imagined city life... it was a fun read.Micah, the best friend is a planner, orgainser, that girl that is always prepared for anything – and it was nice to see representation of a diverse character. Our love interest, Andrew, is the typical hate-to-love trope, but it was done well, and I liked his sarcastic preppy charm, and the fact that he was the fish out of water.I still think the narrative could have been tightened up a bit more, and the cast given a bit more time to shine; but all in all I haven’t enjoyed a title like this from Kasie West in a good long while. I’m hoping the trend continues as I eye off ‘Fame, Fate, and the First Kiss.’We get themes of what family means, the role we attribute to people versus who they really are, high school graduation all wrapped up in this collection of celebrations as seen through the eyes of practical and sensible teens.Cute cover, lovable story, and a return to my favour. Definitely recommend.
