Peavey Max 300 2x10 300w Bass Amp Combo - PVMX300

The two ten inch speaker really do a good job, even handling my five string Fretless. The overdrive is beautifully understated and adds to, not detracts from the sound. I wouldn’t describe the Max 300 as characterful, whereas the Fender Rumble does have a ‘sound’. But I use a Line 6 Bass Pod Pedal in front, and that’s where I get my sound from, so this amp merely amplifies it. Just what I want. Be aware, to get the full 300 watts from it, you will need an extension speak. But it is loud, and has a DI out, so really should be enough for most situations. I could hear a rattle at more than half volume. Took the grille off and discovered it was actually the Peavey logo. Although dampened, the stylised ‘P’ was vibrating because it sticks out from the rest of the lettering. Stuck a bit of felt behind et voila, solved ( didn’t need to have removed the grille after all!). Or just de badge it. It’s a workhorse. And so far, a good one at that.

Purchased this amp 2 days before my bands gig..it arrived on the day of the gig..and I literally had a couple of hours to dial it in...I had nothing to worry about..EQ is easy to set up and the host of built in effects did the trick..especially the mid shift and bright buttons...gig went down a storm and the Peavey amp was outstanding...loads of headroom and I never turned the volume or gain over 3...even with an extremely loud drummer...fantastic piece of kit
