This solar vent opener works great and is very sturdy. We have it on a 4 foot by 8 foot coldframe lid (2 x 2 wooden frame, corrogated plastic glazing). Although the marketing photo appears to show a cold frame, this vent is really designed for installation from the inside of a greenhouse. We have a large and deep cold frame so probably could have climbed inside to install it, but wanted to be able to remove the lid in the summer when our region sometimes gets high winds and it is warm enough we don't need the glazing. To solve the problem, we installed removable hinges on the hinge side (those on typical doors would work well, with the removable pins) and a detachable plate on the front side that the vent attaches to. The detachable plate can also be removed to fully open the lid for easy planting, without removing the hinge. Without this customizing, it would be hard to reach into this large cold frame through the vent opening, especially in cold weather!

This thing is great, only regret is not getting one for my greenhouse sooner. Sometimes I forgot to get out and manually vent the greenhouse and my plants were not amused. I opted for this heavy duty one since it is lifting a Lord and Burnam 3 glass panel and aluminum frame vent. Even though my guess is the lifting load is only 20 pounds, I wanted to be sure it would open. I had to make my own mounting brackets to interface with my frame, but it wasn't too bad. I used existing brackets and mounted a steel tube across for a mounting bar for the unit. It works fantastically, and has no problem lifting the vent. Made in Denmark and of high quality. I will probably get another to open the side vent.

I'm using this on a home made cold frame with a heavy wood frame lid. The product is very well made, and works perfectly. It keeps the temp as consistent as possible by opening and closing as the temp changes. I found a way to mount it such that the opener is not directly attached to the lid. This allows me to open the lid without removing anything (See photo). When I first opened the unit, the shaft of the actuator was extended out pretty far (must have gotten hot during shipping). This made it a little difficult to assemble (had pull it open to get the actuator screwed in). It took overnight for spring to compress the actuator and for it to look normal. I mention this because I was worried something was wrong, but it was fine once it was given time to compress.

I bought 2 of these and overall I think they are wonderful. Very flexible mounting options should fit just about every configuration. Works very well. Very strong lift. Frankly I overbought, my panel only requires less than 25 pounds of lift. Why 4 stars? The mounting plate is cast iron or something like that, it cracked when I tightened the mounting screw. Since my application is so light, it still works fine.

My first order arrived without a cylinder but the package was damaged and not taped so must have fell out. Vendor was great about immediately refunding my purchase. I later reordered and it arrived quickly and in pristine condition this time. Install was very easy and this opener works great. It's heavy duty and has withstood some strong winds since installation. I'd order again.

The Gigavent failed to open after 2 weeks of use in a cold frame and resulted in an over heated environment in which several flats of plants essentially burned up. Couldn't recommend using it and I'm not sure how to return it to the manufacturer which is in Denmark.

Love how this vent works on our 3X4' greenhouse vent. I was worried that the wood construction of the vent would be too heavy for this to work but it works like a charm. It opens at approx. 70-75 degrees and closes when it drops below that point. Amazing! So glad we do not have to do this manually.

Well built, lifts my very heavy vents. Despite a 17' ceiling height, they open at the right temp to keep it under 100F at plant level. Perhaps due to the weight of the vents...

Die Fensteröffner sind sehr kräftig und öffnen die schwerenGewächshausfenster (Doppelverglasung) problemlos. Auch die Rückzugfeder ist sehr kräftig. Die Montage war in unserem Fall (Anbau an einem Victorian Classic Greenhouse der Firma Palmen-GmbH) nur mittels einer zusätzlichen Vorrichtung möglich, die aber mit handwerklichem Geschick und Teilen aus dem Baumarkt selbst gebaut wurde.Die Erwartungen wurden voll erfüllt, nur der Preis ist halt ziemlich happig.

Der Einbau hat gut funktioniert.Bis heute keine Klagen - Der Heber funktioniert super, obwohl ich ein schweres Glasfenster mit dem Heber betätige.Februar 2016Funktioniert noch immer perfekt - hat sich ausgezahlt
