Great reels!
I have several different sizes of the Okuma spinning reels and have been very satisfied with each. The ABF 6000 and ABF-B 6500 are heavy duty reels I use for catfishing. I do feel the increased capacity of the 6500 is worth the extra cost. Additionally, the bait runner switch on the 6500 is activated by flipping the switch in the opposite direction than that of the 6000 which is an improvement as well. If you slide the 6000 in a rod holder you can accidentally activate the bait runner inadvertently. Either way both are great, but in my opinion the ABF series is a step up in both lane capacity and the way the bait runner switch works. Both reels are extremely smooth!

Great for the money
Heck of a reel. I bought the 55b for surf fishing and so far it's sturdy. Will it last a million years?....probably not but it's also not 200 dollars. The bait runner feature is so nice. Had no problem hauling in plenty of bluefish and a 25lb jack

At first glance. It’s big and it’s Smooth!!
It’s a slammer. It looks just like it’s advertised. Came in perfect condition. I also got it in 9 hours!! Which was incredible! One thing I do notice which is hard to see in the picture is the knob and handle are much bigger than they look like in the picture. I was worried it would be poor retrieval but this is perfect. It will pull in quickly no problem. For the price of this reel it’s a steal the quality is most definitely there. It reels super smooth has the reverse switch so you can use it left or right handed. It feels a little heavy but it is a 80 or in other terms an 8000. It should be heavy if it’s well built. I’m putting it on a 11’ pole with a heavy backbone. I’m looking more for cast distance rather than accuracy. So I’m not worried about its weight. All together it seems like a solid surface reel and it looks nice too! I’m ready to rig it up get it on my pole and hit Sandy Hook NJ. Striper Fishing here we go!! Fall Migration is here and I’m ready to go!! Will return with more feedback shortly.

Great reel for an outstanding price!
I normally stick with Shimano in spinning reels, but these are really good - AND, b/c it's a "clicker" (bait runner) reel that is 1/3 the price of the Shimano bait runner reels, it's a terrific bargain. I have couple of other Okuma reels that I use for bass fishing and they are all good, solid reels. I've never had one malfunction - but the only difference between these and a comparable Shimano is that these are a bit more "heavy" in the turn of the handle and not quite as smooth as a Shimano reel. Of course, nothing else is - so it's hard to knock them for that. They are a bit heavier than the comparable class Shimano or Diawa reel, so I knock off one star for that - but then - they are alot cheaper too! Overall, you can't really go wrong with these reels. Oh, if you get this one - the bait runner model, just know that the clicker isn't as loud as some other reels when a fish takes the bait. If you have bad hearing, you might want to go with a Kastking or Pifiscun (sp?) reel b/c they have louder clickers.

Love this reel
When it comes to purchasing items usually my husband will send me the item to see and ask me to read the reviews and to give me my opinion of what I think. So this reel just so happened to be one that he had sent me. I read mixed reviews but decided for the price, why not give it a shot! We paired this with a rod we currently had laying around the house and a few days later took it out to give it a test run. When it came to performance this thing is a beast! It pulled in a 58” 100lb Black drum like nothing in a matter of 2 mins. We had read a lot of comments of it breaking or that the bearings went bad but to me, it’s like anything else, if you use the equipment the way it was intended to be used and perform proper maintenance to the equipment then it is going to last. We live in an area that is all saltwater and oil our reels every month and have not had an issue yet. We loved this one so much that we purchased a second one that is the next model below for my father as a Christmas gift. If you are looking for something that is durable and reasonably priced then you should definitely get one, you will not regret it!

Okuma Avenger ABF 80B, It's big!!
I just purchased my third Okuma Avenger ABF 80B for saltwater fishing. The first two have proven to be great reels and we've hauled in quite a few fish with it. I tend to over rig so these beasts fit in with the scheme. Strong braided line, the beach, and great memories made. It's very smooth to operate and the drag has two options with one being a bait feeder option. It's on the heavy side, but that is on purpose. I wanted the biggest spinning reel I could put on a medium heavy rod. There's larger, but not too many make them larger. Have no fear with this reel.

Best choice
This is my favorite brand, quality and reliability, I have been using another model for over 10 years, now I bought this one and am very happy.

I have purchased this reel for my 9ft, medium-heavy fishing rod I use for carp, salmon, catfish, etc. which are anywhere between 15 to 25lbs and put up a good fight. The reel is nice, smooth and strong. It is, however, a little bigger than I needed. I wish I had selected a reel about one or two sizes smaller. It is hard to appreciate the size just by looking at pictures, and so I checked the line size/yrds info on the reel, commentaries, etc. and yet it was not good enough. The best way to do it, is to go to stores, find what you need and then get it from Amazon if the price is better. And this 'technique' applies for lots of items...but this time I was lazy, I guess...!

It is what it is and is still really good. I lost a Diawa crossfire ands a old Okuma reel in the dark. This reel was a replacement and I was pleasantly surprised. Balances perfectly on my ugly and can be used on canal as a ledger reel.... to sum it up a good little allrounder
