Bedtime Bible Stories - Explicit!

I let my grandchildren read this book to show them NOT to take what they learn at Sunday School literally.

... a collection of bloody campfire fables invented by superstitious ancient goat herders who were seeking to glorify their tribal war god.But I do have to ding you one star for leaving out the heartwarming story of Judges 19. You know -- the one where a host takes in a Levite guest for the night; and before long, a mob of perverts begins pounding on the door, demanding to have sex with the guest.The consummate host finds this utterly offensive, and offers his virgin daughter and the the guest's concubine to the horde, imploring the mob to "do to them whatever you wish." The mob refuses the daughter, but accepts the concubine and they "rape and abuse her all night". After spending hours upon hours being beaten and sexually violated, she manages to crawl back to the doorstep, where the next morning the Levite finds her bruised and broken body. After she fails to respond to his commands, he flops her limp carcass on his donkey and proceeds to ride home.When he arrives, he hacks her corpse into twelve pieces and sends them to each of the twelve tribes of Israel.The story ends with: "consider of it, take advice, and speak your mind."Those who actually do 'consider of it' will immediately reject the idea that the bible is inspired by any god, as this is easily one of the most pointless and disgusting stories ever told in the history of humankind.Almost forgot -- the last third of the book is a coloring book, and I'm all out of crayons. Darn it.

This book is a fantastic illustration as to exactly what our young minds are exposed to when it comes to religious books.These accounts aren't some twisted tale or a bastardization of the bible.It's showing the vile nature of this book written by men that didn't know where the sun went at night for all to see."I'm offended by this book! Christianity is under attack!" - A believer, and probably Kirk Cameron."Read the damn book it's based off of, ALL OF IT!" - the Atheist or otherwise formerly embarking on a religious exodus from the mass delusion.

The content of the book is just as the listing describes. The quality of the paper and the binding is terrible. Magazines use better quality paper. The formating is terrible with edges of text not centered or almost cut off by the margins. The bottom of my copy did not get cut correctly so the pages don't line up properly with each other and with the cover. It feels like the cover will fall off with regular use.

I Love this book, I only wish there were more bible stories with more imagines. Despite that the dipictions do justice. I would definitely share it with my son.

This is more of a novelty. Its a bit funny, but not so funny.I thought I would like it more.

Literal story telling.

In the vein of Bible Bullies, this work hits the fundamentalists where they live and exposed the Bible for the misguided moral compendium that it is. Can't really relate to the puking squirrel, and the narrative at times is loose and wandering from the thesis, which is that the Bible is an interesting compilation of historical scrolls, but hardly sacred.

This well written book combines fact with humour and hypothesis to provoke questions in the mind of the reader, religious or otherwise. It's aim is not to offend but to hold to reason some of the things we are told about the Bible and some of the things written therein. The colourful illustrations add an element of ironic playfulness. Overall this book made me laugh, scoff and ponder in equal measures. Obviously it's not really for kids at bedtime, but it's content is nonetheless worth evaluating for yourself.

I found this book to be mostly for an American audience. Still, it was really informative and also entertaining. Half the book is a coloring book, with really grizzly motives tanken staight from the bible. I find this part to be rather hillarious in a dark sort of way. I the book had appealed to a broader audience I would have rated it to five stars.

Disappointing as half the book is for colouring. Not as hard hitting as expected!!! Seemed to be a rushed production that ran out of ideas!
