Favorite library book from my childhood
Favorite library book from my childhood. My mom would read this with different voices for each of the characters and we always laughed. It’s a really cute and funny book with a twist on the little red hen story. I bought this to gift to my mom to keep on hand to read to the grandkids.

Great Book That's A Sequel To The Little Red Hen
This book is a story that picks up where the Little Red Hen left off. This is her great-grandson and he's hungry. He's tired of eating chicken feed everyday and wants to eat something new. He finds The Little Red Hen's cookbook and decides to make a strawberry shortcake. It's a children's book that is intesting but a little wordy for 3-5s. I teach 3s and 4s and have to read the book in 2 parts. The story follows the process of the cake being made with the help of Rooster's friends. Some pages feature fun facts about baking and there is a recipe for strawberry shortcake at the end of the story that my group always enjoys making. I highly recommend this book for home and classroom.

Fun spin off the little red hen
We first found this book at the library. We liked it so much that I have bought it for my children (boys ages 6, 3, and 2), and 2 other families of nieces and nephews.

Hilarious book.
Great book to read and dramatize on a Friday afternoon to my weekly book reading session at school. Brought in all the cooking utensils used in the book along with a placemat depicting a proper table place setting for a guest.

Readers will love the delightful antics of rooster’s friends and the educational tidbits
Wonderful illustration to accompany a delightful tale! Rooster decides one day that chicken feed isn’t making the cut anymore and decides to follow in his great-granny’s (the little red hen) footsteps and make a delicious dish. With the help of iguana, pot-bellied pig, and turtle the four stumble through the recipe, with hilarious antics of course, to create a dish to share. There is an actual recipe in the back of the book and notes in the margins for curious readers. Entertaining and educational.

Love this book
This is a wonderful book for children who love strawberry short cake and want to learn to cook. It is best if they are already familiar with the story of The Little Red Hen, or that you read it as a companion book, as this is the story of her great grand son. I read the book aloud without the cooking guidelines (listed on the side). The guidelines are however a handy reference, when it comes to actually baking a shortcake. My Grown up -Children still enjoy reading aloud this book when we " go to baking a short Cake" together. I use my family recipe rather than the one in the book - just to follow in the tradition of the book. But all in all it is a great book.

Funny baking sequel to The Little Red Hen!
It is about The Little Red Hen's grandson who finds her cookbook and decides to make strawberry shortcake. He has some friends volunteer to help him, and it is silly and funny! A great book to introduce measuring and baking. The animals need flour, not flower, or find out a tablespoon is not found under a table, etc. The recipe for making strawberry shortcake is also included at the end. My kindergarten students really enjoyed this book, but great for first and second graders, too!
