EXCELSTEEL730 Stainless Steel Pineapple Colanders, Set of 3

A colander serves one purpose: to drain liquids. Not some of the liquid. Not most of the liquid. But all of the liquid. And, as the photograph shows, this set from ExcelSteel fails at that one simple task. The one shown leave about 1/4 cup of liquid in the bottom. Bottom line: try another brand.

While drying these colanders with a towel after unboxing and washing them in warm soapy water, I noticed a black residue smearing around many of the holes. As many other reviewers note, the colanders are just too cheaply made, even for this price. There was no way I was going to drain anything in a colander with black residue smearing from the holes AFTER unboxing them brand new and cleaning them thoroughly with soap and warm water.

These were so fantastically priced and I needed a new set of colanders, so I figured what the heck and added them to my cart. And as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. These are bit super fantastic quality and I'll be surprised if they last a year. The metal is thin and the handles aren't sturdy, I'm sure they will detach at some point. I wouldn't order these again, it was a bit of an impulse, when they give in I'll pay more for a better quality set.

Not happy with this replacement for a previous strainer. My last one had holes all over so that everything including pasta, beans, Etc drain perfectly.This strainer only has groups of holes which are fairly large and only in certain places so that even small amounts of beans or noodles sit in water and I had to tilt the strainer this way and that in order to get rid of the water.Not a good choice for me. I will be returning this product.

I like these for the most part. I like the various sizes for if I'm making a big meal or something small. I just don't think they have the best drainage. There are holes in the bottom but where they are isn't quite the lowest part of the bottom so you have to do some twisting and turning to get something drained.

Great price for 3 colanders, the strainers look good, stainless, not thick but OK, stacking. However, as other reviewers have noted the colanders don't drain well at all. Not enough holes, particularly at bottom and lower sides, the bottom is bowed up slightly causing the water to move away from the bottom holes, and more importantly the hole size is such that the surface tension of the water prevents it from draining. At least I'm assuming that is the problem. The water just sits over the holes! See other reviewer's pictures. This should be used as a physics lesson in high school... and for the designer. Not sure how they didn't test this. The colanders are pretty useless. Returned for refund.

It's great having different sizes for different jobs. They are a bit on the lightweight side (compared to my old one) but that appears not to affect their function (they feel quite sturdy) and look good. My only complaint is the worse than expected drainage (I used to have a net type in the past). It's especially problematic with pasta to get the water completely out. I find that I'm changing my technique from an up-down motion to more of a swirl. That improves the drainage to a satisfactory level. (It's just that I was taught up-down, so at first it feels a bit off, but it works!)4 stars. Work well and look good in kitchen.

Flimsy thin metal, flat bottom retaining water and no holes for drainage that work. The holes on the sides are too high up to drain the bottom. How do you hope to drain a flat bottom with no additional holes around the bottom? Obviously whomever designed this does not use it.

Sorry but these are just too light and not worth the money. I could get from a supermarket for a fraction of the cost. Feel a bit `done'. They look nice and are good sizes just clearly not what I expected for the cost. Wouldn't recommend. That said I couldn't be bothered to return due to cost and they will `do;

Muy practicas, lo único es que se sienten muy plásticas, son muy ligeras.

Me gustaron mucho; son de buena calidad realizan su función y tienen diferentes tamaños para lo que necesite uno. Excelentes.
