Universal Stainless Steel Trash Chute Door - Bottom Hinged, (12" X 15"), Self Closing Fire Rated & UL Approved by Oswald Supply

Our annual fire safety inspection (for our 1974 condo building) reported 3 trash chute doors that were not compliant with current code, since they were not closing automatically. In order to get our clearance from the fire department, we had to replace those 3 doors. As usual, for this old building, nothing made today is an exact fit and it's difficult to select the closest match from online descriptions. My online searches only served to further confuse me, since I had no way to understand which product would best meet our needs.One call to Oswald Supply Company, in New York, made all the difference. Bob Oswald personally answered the phone (no voicemail or call center!) and immediately understood my issue. He gave me instructions about how to measure and emailed me a chart to use for reference. He responded to a second phone call, so that I could get a bit more clarification. While I purchased through Amazon (rather than his website), since the warehouse is in this country and the items were in stock, we got a reasonably quick delivery (8 days). Bob followed up to let me know when he received the order and again to check in after it got here.Our handyman did have to make some changes to our trash chute frame to insure a good fit. However, thanks to Bob's guidance, the end result was as perfect as we could expect in this old building. These doors, unlike our old flimsy models, are definitely solid, close properly, and look so much better. While these trash chute doors were just what we needed, my main reason for writing this review is to compliment the attentive, knowledgeable, patient and all around excellent customer service I received.

I bought 2 of these doors. I had a question and called the manufacturer. Robert in customer service was very helpful with my questions and stood 100% behind their product if an issue arose in installation, which it did not. I would highly recommend choosing this company and the product they offer. After installation it looked great and works perfectly!

The door came today and it was right on time. I do a lot of replacement installations and this door is my go-to. I cant say enough about the quality of the unit and the durability of their product. I will definitely order again for all my hi-rise buildings.

Very heavy duty and high quality. They come protected in a sturdy box, and the faces wrapped in tape. Installation was easy if you have a brain.

The chute door was delivered promptly and our maintenance dept. replaced our previous 45 year old chute door and it is working great! We have several in our complex so now we know where to get more replacements as we need them. Very pleased with the product.
