The caterpillar automata madoel is a nice couple of hour project. Interesting, cute, works well and its well built.

rare example of beautifully made wooden kits
It is difficult to find well made kits that are fun to make, offer education in making as well as motion, and provide a lasting play. This kit, as well as others by Timberkits are the best one can find.
