The Sabbath: Entering God's Rest Staple Bound – Illustrated, October 1, 1998

Its ok. Very simple and to the point. Ecpected more info out of this book. It's more a book based on how to celebrate the sabbath day of rest. How to prepare night before, burning of candles, meal preparations with recipes, music to sing for sabbath preparations and so forth. I wanted more detail and the understanding of the Sabbath, its purpose and much more so I got the book from sabbath to sabbath by Lancaster. If you want to know how to celebrate the Sabbath then I would recommend the book. If your looking for more then just the celebration this is not the book for you. Thats why I only gave it 3 stars. The title of book gave me the impression it had much info about the sabbath.

As a 7th day Sabbath believing Christian it was interesting to read a Jewish Christian's defense of the 7th day Sabbath in a world where the Sabbath of the Bible is ignored. It was also beneficial to learn how the Sabbath is observed by Jews as a special occasion each week and not just a day to refrain from work and go to church. The author presents the Sabbath as a day to celebrate not only God but also family and friends in an enjoyable way. He presents it as a day to build and enjoy relationships.

It helped me to fulfil the commandment of keeping the Shabbat. This book also helped me to enjoy the experience of Shabbat.
