Yeah, Old Town.
Old Town rules. Our family has 3 canoes and 3 kayaks. They're all great, durable. One canoe it over 20 years old and, despite a lot of abuse, is still chugging along happily. Just bought more because the family got bigger and we all wanted to head out together.

Great canoe for just about everything! Minus sitting on these seats
I have used old town canoes all over the east from getting caught on the Susquehanna during the flood of 2011 or low water Brush creek these canoes perform great. I like the guides but their new seat makes it a really tight fit for someone in the front (hurts your legs if you 6ft or taller) and the discovery isn't as wide as the guide but you get the much needed 9 inches for the space of gear and leg room. Overall you cant go wrong with the discovery from week long pack trips to just a day trip it will take you where you need to go.Update 5/24/2014 Spent all day in the discovery while its a very nice canoe I would like to take a moment and ask every engineer and every other person that works at old Town what in the heck did you do with these seats???? Just flat down right the worst thing my butt has ever sat on in the water!!! They slope forward some or something and its as slippery as it gets when trying to stay on the dang thing. (Power Stroke forget about it) So I just had to make a run up to the store to buy some of the stuff they use to put under rugs to make it not move (foam material). This is crazy. I would happily send these seats back to Old Town and go with the standard old seat with no backrest etc... So now I have to try to rig something up until I can figure out what to do for the permanent fix. . I surely would not as of right now take this thing on a multi day trip or anything that would require me to have to power stroke and maneuver hard because your constantly sliding around on than darn thing. Going out again tomorrow will updated on what I come up with. Hope this helpsUpdate 6/9/2014 Well after fighting with the sliding around thing I have another issue and that is your Tail-Bone will hurt you if you sit in this thing a lot. I cut 2 squares of yoga matt and still didn't help..! So I emailed OLD Town via their website to get recommendations on a fix and or me send them these (Good seats) back for the old standard seat without a back and well a couple weeks later no one has gotten back with me..! So I had to just buy some of the old ones which appear to be on clearance/discontinued ! So with the issues that I have with the seats and the fact that old town will not even respond I am lowering my review score.. Buy at your own risk of a sore butt and getting hurt sliding off of this thing..

the canoe is great. Good construction and well built. When it was shipped there was slight damage to the front where the shipper use a ratchet strap to tie it down.

Old Town 169
The Most versatile wilderness tripping canoe available. It is virtually indestructible! I have had one bent around a large rock to nearly 90 degrees and it bounced back in to shape without a sign of distress.

arrived damaged
Great canoe but it arrived damaged. Not sure where along the way it was damaged so I can't help much aside from saying the canoe is big and stable. Not very efficient for speed, but stable and carries a load like few others. The seat is fairly comfortable but slippery in the rear. In the front your feet are closer to the sides so it is easy to stay braced in the seat, but in the rear seat a wrapping of solid poly rope or other permanent cushion is necessary to prevent sliding around.
