LXX Septuagint: An English Translation of the Greek Old Testament

It answered one question I had.
I bought this book to see the difference in the King James Bible and the Septuagint Bible. I'm not going to use this to sit and read, but as a study and reference bible. It did answer one question I had. When is use of the phrase 'sons of God' speaking of man or angels. In Genesis it's man. In Job it's angels. It's not a hard book to read, just the pages are not marked to know where you are at. You have to use the index in the front of the book. It does have quit a few extra books in it than the King James. I think it has more extra books than the Catholic bible. I've read some of the extra books and they just don't connect to the rest of the bible like the 66 books do. Every book in the bible connects to at least one other book in the bible. Most connect to several books. But these extra books just don't do that.. But they might be interesting reads. I don't know. Just got the book and haven't read much yet. I bought it to study Creation, the flood and Job, for starters.

Disappointed indeed
Horrible quality print. Looks like someone cut up the original and made a copy of a copy of a copy and then haphazardly glued the pages together.

Print to small to read!!
I definitely didn't expect the font to be soooo small. It is very difficult to use as a study guide. So I'll have to buy another one with larger or just regular size print. I will try to resell this one but if I can't, I've wasted my money.

One Massive Problem - Otherwise, Awesome
At the top of the pages, the name of the book does not appear - instead it is "LXX". You have to go to the table of contents to find where the book is. Otherwise, it is heafty, good paperback cover, nice font and layout. Best of all, it has the apocryphal books. Even more than my Good News Translation. Four Maccabees. Daniel has the extra chapters. 10 chapters in Esther. Anyway, great book. I will just have to get used to looking in the table of contents to find the book I want. Otherwise, it would get five stars.

Great Translation!
The font is too small. It's heavy. But it's a great translation, a little different here and there which gives you a deeper sense of what it's saying. I broke the book into five parts so it's not heavy on my hands, and easier to study. Then I took out the table of contents so I know where I'm at. It's good for the price. But still, tiny little letters.

Navigation could be better
The navigation could be better. In the table of contents you can choose by book but, upon arriving at the book, you cannot choose the chapter and must scroll through all the chapters to get to the one you want. Also, the book name is not shown on the top of each page, so you must "go to" to see what book you are in if you're not on pages that are the beginning of chapters or books. On the positive side, the type is clear and, of course, the text itself is great. I've had some really bad navigation issues with prior ebook purchases and I feel that the navigation on this one is not horrendous, just tiresome.

the right price
I wanted to use the Septuagint for study. This copy was the right price. Its big and heavy. LXX Septuagint is at the top of each page so if you open to a page, you may have no idea what book you are in. This doesnt really bother me. I am just happy to have this available in English. Its a paperback but the cover is very sturdy. My 2 year old has picked it up and dropped it several times to test this. : )

Terrible
The font size is awful and I only had it out the box 5 minutes and the pages started to fall out!!

Typos
Not an expert on which LXX translation is best so this review is limited to mechanics: there are no book titles at the top of the individual pages so it's tedious to find out which book of the Bible you are reading in. There are also quite a few typographical errors such as repeated words and some minor spelling mistakes. Some of the lines have slightly more spacing in between them than others do, so it's harder on the eyes when reading. Also, the font is quite small.

Truly awful representation of God's holy word
I am mindful that to write a review, it almost seems disrespectful as I must make it clear I am NOT writing a review of the word of God, as the word of God needs no review because it is perfect and right, but the 2 stars I gave this book are because it is absolutely awful to navigate mainly and 1 star implied I "hate it", when I do not hate anything to do with God, but I loathe this book. Let me start with the font size: it is ridiculously small. Another major problem with this book is the navigation: it is truly awful. There is a table of contents wth the page numbers, but the book is so badly printed, it does not even contain the name of the book on the top page, so if you lose your page, God help you because you will have to go back to the contents to find where you are. All it has on the top of each page in the corner is "LXX Septuagint". I also found some of the spelling errors unacceptable. I was reading Isaiah 49, Chapter 49 on page 555 and it had "Lard" instead of Lord. How utterly disgusting to refer to the Almighty God as "Lard". These gross errors are NOT acceptable in the word of God. Also, it would help if the table of contents had the English translation of the book names, e.g. who necessarily knows that "Jezekiel" is "Ezekiel"??? I am so disappointed with this book. It saddens me that the publishers could not even be bothered to proofread it.

True story!
What can I say? It's a true story, a greek translation of the hebrew bible apparently. I thought it would be a bit more in depth, like Jasher for example, but reads just like a kjv...Never get past Leviticus, there's a sleeping pill, the rules; sure they have merit, but hardly attention grabbing. I'll finish it off in between my other commuting kindle reads...
