We ordered may 26th they were shipped within 3 days of ordering. I was concerned because one shipping stop was through pheonix amd it is hot there. When we opened the box all the caterpillars appeared dead. But the next day all 5 were up amd moving within a few days they were big fat caterpillars so if shipping takes too long you will not get small caterpillars. The kids loved watching these at all stages. The. Butterfly's were not theost beautiful they were more moth like colors. It was neat to see them anyway

Perfect, educational, and exciting for my littles. They loved awaiting the butterflies and watching them transform! We only had 1 little guy that didn't make it.

I made 2 orders 1 for my classroom children and the other for my son’s classroom. I received 10 caterpillars and only 9 made it into butterflies in my classroom. My classroom enjoyed it and this was fun and easy. I would order again

I'm very disappointed with Insect Lore this year. Both cups of caterpillars had caterpillars of extremely varying ages. 2 caterpillars were so small, they were buried among the waste of the older caterpillars and died. The rest of the butterflies all hatched so far apart, I had some flying around like crazy and ready to be fed, while others were just hatching and needed to dry their wings. Several ended up getting injured because of the others flying around like crazy and knocking them around before their wings could properly dry. I won't be buying these again anytime soon. I've done these caterpillars with my daughter for many years and have never had this problem. A company of this calliber and price point should have this down to a science and deliver caterpillars all on the same development timeline. This year's experience was horrible!!

We received our shipment earlier than expected, all 10 caterpillars were alive and are very healthy, and the kit came with everything we need to raise these little guys. I'm very happy with this purchase.

My daughter’s caterpillars and ladybugs died in her classroom this year so I ordered some for home. My youngest (7) and my granddaughters (4&2) as well and Mimi and great Memaw absolutely loved watching our caterpillars go through the stages. Even after release the butterflies came around for a couple of days.

One of the cups only had 3 caterpillars which was a bummer since I ordered this expecting 5 in each.Aloe please note the last sentence on the description to not order when temperatures are below 55 or above 85. Some of our caterpillars arrive dead, which included the cup that only had three to begin with.

This was fantastic! My boys loved it and it was a great learning experience for my kiddos! I do have 3 concerns though.With 5 caterpillars in each cup, towards the end about a few days before they pupate the cup becomes so gross. They literally are walking all over their own excrement. Also, these cats get pretty big and when they climb to the top to pupate there is not enough room for them and they fight for space while J hanging. (That is the process they start just before they form a chrysalis).They need to supply a larger cup. And just a little more food. It was really coming down to the wire at the end. I was worried they would need more food.Other than those concerns, this was a nice experience. They just need to make improvements for the better for these little guys though. Watching them fight like that and the stress they must have been feeling must have been awful for them. :(
