Watco 241758 Butcher Block Oil & Finish, 16 oz, Clear

I’ve been using this finish for years. It’s an easy wipe on finish that you can build up to the desired gloss. What I really like about it is that if it wears off in a spot, you can give the surface a good cleaning or light sanding and recoat and it looks new. One of my uses is on our kitchen island. Where people sit ends up worn from plates. Super easy to refresh.

Used this to refinish our butcher block and it worked great. Application was simple, the finish looked clean and rich, and it brought the wood back to life. I’ll definitely repurchase when it’s time for the next round of maintenance. Recommend if you want something that’s effective and low fuss sealer. No strong fumes (although it does have a smell), dries quickly and good coverage without scratching

Been using this butcher block sealer for years. It last for years also project after project. I recommend 4 coats and last coat to be thickest for a brilliant shiny finish. 1000 grit light sanding before every coat. Smell strong but not as bad as other products. Easy to apply with a cloth or old white socks. Resistant to water and anything spill on it. I used on island butcher block for 6 years still going strong. Just did a full kitchen on a house with butcher counter top with 4 coats. it looks amazing.

It was easy to wipe it onto the cutting boards with kitchen paper. It says clear but a hint of color was added to the wood. Depending on the wood the hint can be more pronounced. I understand that all finish oils would change the wood color. I use 400 and 600 grit sand paper to smooth out the finish after a couple of layers. They boards are made from exotic solid wood. The result is very nice as the wood now has a beautiful sheen. They will be birthday gifts to my niece to be used as cheese boards.

We have used this butcher block oil and finish since 2008. On non-work wood surfaces...sides of cabinets etc it provides a long lasting finish. On surfaces that get a lot of wear, we found it would routinely last a year or more and was easy to re-coat. If you seal the can after use properly, the product will have a long shelf life. We recommend it.

Works very well but can easily scratch or mar with daily use
