Alpine SPR-60C 6-½" 2-Way Component System

I am NOT a car audio officianado. About twenty years ago I dabbled in it a little. With that being said I bought these on a recommendation from a friend who is a professional installer at an Alpine distributor.Man these things are awesome! This is the third set of speakers I have had in my doors. I started out with a blown factory speaker which off course sounded awful. Then I added a set of aftermarket two-way Kenwood speakers which sounded pretty good with the factory head unit. I upgraded to a Pioneer FH-X731BT and my front speakers sounded awful. So I bucked up and got some big boy speakers.The highs are so clear they startled me. The mid are a ton better than what I had before. They make my pants legs vibrate. How cool is that?! I have been told they will really come alive with an amplifier. If I do I will update. And don't forget these have neodymium magnets, so they are actually smaller than my junky factory speakers. So if you just like to turn the volume up and have no clue what your looking for and are willing to drop the cabbage for these speakers, you won't be disappointed. Heck it's Alpine, you can't go wrong with Alpine.

Great sound

They are very musical on a clear high end recording, the bass is very good in my installation on the door factory location, I have the tweeters just above them also on the doors flush mounted, the tweeters are extremely bright and sometimes fatiguing I will have to reset the tweeter jumper to a lower position to see if this helps, I played around with the crossovers and settled on 80Hz, I have the SPR-69 coax on the rear deck for rear fill. I am running 2 Soundstream amps (not high end) 1 is the P4-500 @ 80W x 4 RMS, I also have a 10" Pioneer single 4 ohm sub in a sealed enclosure running a Soundstream mono amp @ about 400W RMS x 1, overall I am happy with the sound they produce till a bright song comes on, if I am not able to fix the tweeter harshness I am thinking of replacing these speakers with Focal 165AS but this would mean having to upgrade at least my 4 channel amp to a better one. My Soundstream 4 Channel amp my also contribute to the harshness of the treble as this is not the cleanest amplifier. **** Please read my updated review under Comments ****

I bought these because type r coaxial versions of these speakers were not performing how I wanted. I got them because I didn't wanna cut holes. Well come to ind out component speakers are better. Right away I heard the difference. They handle 10 more watts (no big deal) and they perform better. I push 88 watts rms to each speaker. I have the type r 6x9s in the tar deck. My system sounds so good now. And if you want them to sound good you have to power them properly. With my 88 watts x4 it's perfect. I have plenary of head room on t gains. At about 30 on my headunit my ears will start to hurt after about 5 minutes. And at that you can hear the music inside of a house. Alpine kids and highs are amazing. Look no further. These are top of th line for a great price with innovative features.

These were a excellent addition to my all alpine system...I hate when people have more bass than mids and highs! I added these to finish off my whole component set add a alpine amp, with two Alpine Type R's and....O'Boy does these add that touch that i needed to my system! Not to mention the great price, which cant be beat...These are A GO!!! Highly recommended!!!

I love the sound in my truck now! These drastically improved the quality of sound I have in my truck. The highs are crisp the mids are clear and the bass is considerably better. I get no static, crackling or any of the noises you get when a cheap pair of speakers are installed and the volume is turned up. I installed these myself and found if you are somewhat mechanically inclined that it can be done in about an hour to an hour and a half. I highly recommend these as the have improved the sound in my 2013 GMC Sierra without bose sound system.
