I originally purchased this air horn back in March after my dogs and I were attacked by four loose dogs in the neighborhood. A neighbor had left their gate open, and it was a really frightening situation. Ever since then, I’ve carried this horn as a precaution. This morning, we were out walking when another group of dogs came charging toward us. Thankfully, I was prepared this time. I pressed the horn for just 3–4 seconds and the dogs immediately stopped in their tracks and bolted the other way. It was loud enough to scare them off quickly without me or my dogs getting hurt. What impressed me is that even after using it, I still have plenty left for future use. It’s small, easy to carry, and works exactly as described. If you live in an area where there are stray or aggressive dogs, I highly recommend this as a first line of defense before something serious happens. It gave me peace of mind and kept my dogs safe.

Invest in a pair of ear plugs because this horn is incredibly loud. Don't use as a prank to scare people as it will damage your hearing. It is compact and light, it's easy to put in your pocket. Made in the USA and meets U.S. COAST GUARD REQUIREMENTS. If you're in need of help, this will get attention. It will probably scare a bear away. You only need a couple short blasts to scream out 120 dbs. That way it can be reused dozens of times. 10 out of 10.

We recently purchased a boat and the horn on the boat sounded like a dying bird. It wasn't loud at all and with the boating regulations we purchase this horn. It is loud and works well for our needs on the lake. If your boat horn isn't loud this is a great replacement.

I put this review under a 4 star only because I don’t read 3 stars and below because people like to complain about TRIVIAL THINGS which is annoying to me. This air horn is garbage AND for for the price it is a TRAGEDY BUY Mickey Mouse because it is not loud at all even in short blasts. You would be dead before anyone heard it. You would be better off with a regular whistle because it is louder and travels just as far. Just learn the pattern on how to send a distress signal. DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT

If you’re looking for a discreet buzzer for middle-school sports games, this little can from Better Boat is absolutely not—it’s basically a sonic rocket launcher with a “go home or go deaf” option. The blast is powerful enough to carry half a mile and hits roughly 115 dB. When I first fired this off, teammates flinched. Nearby parents turned their heads. The ref might’ve flagged me for excessive celebration. But if your goal is to command attention—be it start of game, end of quarter, or that one kid who forgot his cleats—this thing delivers: loud, sharp, and impossible to ignore. I can’t guarantee your eardrums will forgive you afterward. But the kid who gets up the next morning with a ringing in their ears might at least remember who scored the last touchdown.

It is a smaller can than it appears in the pictures. You have to make sure it is screwed on tight. My wife wasn't able to screw it all the way down the first time we used the first can and it ignited close to the fire place. I ordered a second one because we didn't the first one much of a chance and screwed the top on myself. We haven't used the second one yet. It is loud! It performs as described. Three star rating only because of my attitude of wasting the first $16 or so (although on me for not screwing it in myself because of my own laziness).

Bought this to ward off coyotes when walking my dog if needed. Haven’t had to use it yet but love the size and ability to keep it with me on a walk. Hopefully I never have to use but something great to help me feel safer!

Kids loved this at their sports day! Was the loudest horn by far, according to them.

These canisters are smaller than I was anticipating but work as well as the larger canisters. Just not sure how long they will last.
