Decent case
This Boyt case is not as good as a pelican case, but the reason I purchased it instead of the pelican I would normally get is because I do not think pelican makes a case that is this size, and certainly not at this price. I needed a case large enough for a 7-1/2" Ruger Super Redhawk, but there was plenty of extra room so I also put my 1911 and a ruger LCP in there as well. The Case itself is made well enough, I prefer the pelican style latches and the hinges are better on the pelican cases. I do prefer the solid foam this case has instead of the stupid pick and pluck foam which really only works well if you are putting something square in there. The pressure relief valve on this is pretty cheesy as well. When I came to cutting the foam to fit my handguns I took the thinner piece of foam from the bottom of the case and cut that instead of the thicker piece that is in the middle, and even then I ended up cutting my cutouts in half and sticking them back into the holes. Not cheap but it is good for the money.

Exellent case for the money!
Very nice, very durable case! Mine closes properly and seals well. The latches engage perfectly and lock the lid down tightly as they should. The handles have molded detents that 'lock' them in the carry or folded position so they don't flop or bang. The foam is dense enough to protect my firearms, two Weatherby Mark Vs, but still relatively easy to cut for a perfect fit. This was the first of two Boyt cases I've purchased, and the reason for the second purchase. In my opinion, You simply can't find a better case for less money.

great way to go
case is very nice, I couldn't find any flaws with it, this is the largest case I could find which is why I chose it, also it's nice that this is made in USA, I currently have 3 rifles, 3 handguns, and 2 banana clips in this case and have room for 1 or 2 more handguns, now to do this I had to improvise, I cut the 2 lower foam pieces in half so I had 4x 1" thick pieces so I could have 2 layers of guns. Then I had to trace onto the lid foam and shave some of it away to contour to the guns on the top layer, I used a rotary wire brush to do this, I did the rest with a razor knife so it's pretty messy but it works. Also note that if you use locks with this they need to have long necks or I guess the cable type locks would work. But why buy a gun safe when you could buy this which is more protective and portable and easier to store.

Good overall, but minor quality problems.
This is a beefy case and is an excellent value for price. It has minor quality issues, but I'm only deducting one star because they do not impact its ability to store firearms.PROS:* Made in USA.* Strong.* Good price.CONS:Made in China quality, specifically:* Latches sit unevenly because mounting surface wasn't cleaned before attachment.* Plastic globs stuck to outside of handle due to sloppy molding.* Case must be closed gently or the gasket will come out and become pinched.* Exterior stickers placed way out of alignment -- I expect them to come off or to collect dirt. The cons can be fixed with a Dremel and some free time, but I'd rather the manufacturer stepped up its manufacturing and quality control processes.

... case for a few months now and am very happy with it
Ive had this case for a few months now and am very happy with it. I was looking at this versus the pelican brand which is significantly more expensive. I went to cabelas and looked at both and i preffered the boyt. Not only was the price much less but the plastic used seems thicker and to be of a very high quality. I like the hinges to close it. My only complaint would be the gasket thats used to seal the case when its closed. It can come out fairly easy and you just have to make sure its aligned before closing. This case holds a custom rifle and scope that is worth well over 2500$ and i feel like its very well protected. Dont cheap out and get a plano, protect your equipment with a product you can trust. My advice is to go to bass pro or cabelas where they have a few to compare and see for yourself. Very happy!

I went back and forth for a while before pulling the trigger on this case. I was debating buying this one, a cheaper version sold by Cabela's and the more expensive option made by Pelican. I went by Cabela's to see their version and I was able to compare their case (which looks just like this one except is says Cabela's where this one says Boyt) to the Pelican Case, which they also carried. The Pelican is definitely the superior case. It has wheels, is very hard and was much lighter and less bulky than the Cabela's version. The Pelican had a new style of locks that were plastic, which I'm not sure if I liked better or not.In conclusion, I am very pleased with my purchase of the Boyt brand gun case after much deliberation. It was nearly $50 more than the Cabela's version, but it is less bulky and seems to be slightly superior quality. I think it is well worth it to buy this on for $50 more. I am also glad I did not opt to but the Pelican version. If money is not an issue, then that is definitely the highest quality option. I'm just not sure the Pelican was worth the extra money for my needs over this Boyt as it cost $100 more. Hope this helps someone.

Perfect For My AR15
This is an excellent case. Not as good as a Pelican, but way better than all the other Plano cases I've seen. I put my new Ruger AR556 with Vortex Strikefire II red dot mounted and it fits with room for mags. I have it padlocked to keep the kids out and the case cannot be easily opened. You would have to be pretty determined and need some tools to cut this thing open. There are actually slots for 4 padlocks. It is heavy duty plastic and not flimsy at all. So it would be great for transporting in the truck or on a plane.
