I was using Redken Hardwear 16 for countless years and went nuts when it looked like they stopped making it. After some searching it seemed like this was the “replacement” with new packaging and updated graphic. In desperation, and with little hope, I bought it to try it. Hardwear was the absolute best product I had ever found for creating stiff hold when I needed it and giving shine that lasted. I didn’t think I’d ever find a replacement. First use of this eased my mind. It seems to be exactly the same as they “old” product. I had some of the original version left and compared the two - looked and felt exactly the same. Used it and was thrilled. I had no reason to think there was anything different except for the packaging. For a first time user I can offer that this is probably not for anything except a firm hold. It worked exceptionally well if you dampen your hands a bit, either work it in or smooth it on a particular area and then blow dry that area for a short time to get incredible shape that doesn’t look like it’s concrete. I haven’t experienced any residue when I shampoo my hair (and I use it frequently)…one shampoo and it’s gone. The second pic is to show how it thick it is. I’ve had far too many that say “super strong” and when I squirt them out of the bottle they just spread all over the place. This stuff is nice and thick. I love that about it - and to make it go further I started dampening my fingers or hands before working it in because the thickness can make it a little difficult to get the even coverage I want. Any one looking for a new product that blows away any others I’ve ever tried (and that’s a LOT) you won’t be disappointed!

Good product. You only need a dab to get your hair under control. Such a large bottle, it will last me a long time.

This gel works well. I used it for a long time until I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. Pros: It will hold your hair, and you can shape it however you'd like. It does well with less hair you have. I was very happy with my appearance when I used this product, and it's not hard to manage. It dries quickly and does not leave a mess. Cons: I had some frustrations with this product; sometimes, it would leave my hair hard and stringy-looking. You need to be careful with how much you put in and how you apply it. Other times, to avoid this hard/stringy look, I put less product in my hair. As a result, it would not last all day. Side note: I stay active throughout the day, so this likely affected its longevity. Overall, I was happy with this product. I purchased it three or more times, but I eventually grew out of it. For anyone looking for a gel to use, I would highly recommend this product!

So, I bought this Redken Max Sculpting Gel thinking, “Okay, maybe it’ll tame my frizz.” What I didn’t realize was that I was about to enter a new dimension of hair control. This stuff could hold the Leaning Tower of Pisa upright. I applied a small dab — small — and suddenly my hair had the structural integrity of reinforced concrete. I’ve gone through two rainstorms, a convertible ride, and one extremely judgmental cat, and my hairstyle hasn’t budged a millimeter. Bonus: If you ever need to temporarily fix a broken shelf, I feel like this could do it. The scent is great, the shine is top-tier, and the hold? Let’s just say NASA could use this to keep satellites in orbit. Would I buy again? Absolutely. I might not need to — because one bottle could probably last until the next ice age. 💇‍♂️ Final Verdict: 10/10 — Warning: Your hair will give up freedom for the sake of perfection.

Me gusta todo lo de esta marca llevo años usando el champú y ahora solo quiero que todo lo que toque mi pelo sea redken , lastima que no hagan tintes de pelo o al menos yo no lo he visto , sol fiel a la marca

I used the previous formula for years and was very apprehensive when they reformulated/repackaged. I have thin, baby fine, curly hair and this is the BEST gel for my hair type out of the many I've tried. To reduce stickiness I mix it in damp hair with a leave in conditioner. I haven't noticed any changes in the excellent curl, volume and hold this product provides from the previous formula. My loyalty to this product remains the same. It is my go to for my hair type.

Endlich habe ich einen guten Haarfestiger gefunden als Alternative für das nicht mehr verfügbare Thickening Lotion 06 von Redken. Ich habe sehr lange andere Produkte getestet und war nie ganz zufrieden. Dieses Gel bringt Volumen und Festigung sowie Pflege für mein feines Haar.
