Far, far superior to the original and the volume adjustment actually works!!!
As the volume control on my original remote never worked that well, and continued to deteriorate with time I decided to replace it. Thanks to the Amazon reviews I selected this remote rather than another Marantz remote. This one is far, far superior in so many ways...... This unit is much more compact and has a much more intuitive layout than the original, all at a fraction of the price. With the exception of the OFF button, all the main buttons are large and are contained in the main display while seldom used functions are much smaller buttons that fit onto the secondary display below the slider. The volume control works flawlessly and adjusts much faster than the original. Locating the OFF button in the secondary display is my only minor complaint with this unit, that still deserves 5 STARS, despite this minor design oversight.

It's different from the picture
My original Marantz remote stopped working very well for either turning on (off is fine) or adjusting the volume. My complaint with this new one is having to slide open the cover to get to the off button, so I still use the old one. So much for reducing the number of remotes.

Kind of bare bones for the money, but it works well enough, And it's hard to find a remote for Marantz receivers in this price range. Why Marantz can't build a decent remote beats the heck out of me. I can confirm that this remote works w/ the NR 1602.

Not what waspictured, or advertise
Completely different remote, they picture of factory mode in this picture but this is definitely an aftermarket, and a cheap one of that. Yes it works, it turns on and off my receiver but a lot of functions are not there. On top of it all, I can’t even get a refund because they don’t allow it. I am absolutely furious

Large volume buttons are nice, but you have to open the flimsy bottom cover to turn the receiver off. Also does not have designated buttons for 'Sat,' 'BD,' 'DVD,' etc, so you have to scroll through the inputs. Meh...

So far seems to be pretty good. Lot better than the original that came with the Marantz receiver. The Marantz remote crapped out and Manantz would not replace it under warranty so I bought the replacement. The only complaint I have with it. The power button turns the receiver on, but you have to slide the cover down to put the receiver in standby. The power button should be able to turn the receiver both on and off without having to use a seperate button to turn it off. Other than that I am pleased with the unit. I doubt if I would buy another Marantz because of their warranty policy.
